Online Driver’s Education
The online driver’s education course is open to students in the WRESA service area, including the following counties: Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.
Students must be in grades 9-12 and 14.5 years of age before enrolling in this course. Once a student has registered for a class, they will receive an email within 2-5 business days containing instructions on how to enroll in the classroom portion. An instructor will monitor progress and be available to assist with questions.
Cost: $65Â (payments made through PayPal/credit card at time of registration).
Note: the registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, so please be sure the student can complete the requirements during the times for each session
The course will cover the state and national standards required for drivers’ education and will be self-paced, but must be completed within the 4-week window. Successful completion of the course requirements will result in the student receiving the paperwork necessary for the driving portion of drivers’ education. This paperwork can be presented to the local school contact or appropriate private contact.
Classroom Portion Requirements:
- Students will receive an email with the information to enroll in the classroom portion. Orientation should take about 20 minutes to complete, and must be done during the 2-day window
- All sections and quizzes must be completed for Units during the designated time
- Road Signs Test and Final Exam must be completed on one of the designated dates during the designated time
- Students must make an overall grade of “60” to receive credit for the course
