Getting Wiser with NCWiseOwl

This year celebrates the 20th year of NCWiseOwl in North Carolina schools. This invaluable resource is often underused and forgotten.  But we are planning on featuring components of this tool in our online posts throughout this year. For this month, we’d like to overview what kinds of tools are part of this online hub of resources.

The mission of NCWiseOwl is “to ensure that all public school NC students have access to a collection of online resources for use in educational pursuits, without regard to the economic status of their local school system”. This tool is accessible from any device with an internet connection and can be used at both school and at home.  On school campuses no password is needed; however, if you are at home and need a password to access this tool, please see your school’s media specialist.

This resource hub provides high quality, free and reliable resources for staff and students in NC.  Some examples include:

  • Research Databases
  • Primary Sources
  • Magazine Subscriptions
  • e-Journals and eBooks
  • Encyclopedia Resources
  • Collections
  • and MORE!

We look forward to sharing more about this great free resource in months to come!
