The last six months have been trying for everyone in different ways. Many are feeling isolated from others, separated from loved ones, longing for human connection. For those serving in education, this is not different. Individuals who serve in role supporting the educational system often have what they see is a calling to serve others. Serving others has been more challenging lately.
Think back on the pre-flight reminder to “put on your own oxygen mask before helping someone else put on a mask”. For many in education this is somewhat counter-intuitive, as many think of service before self. Wanting to serve is a noble calling, one that is to be admired. However, we must all remember to take care of ourselves so that we can be at our best to take care of our students.
