HCPS Remote Learning Day (Optional Workday): Thursday, January 29, 2026
Today’s warmer temperatures and sunshine continues to help the meltdown in the areas that are most impacted by the ice storm, but the thick layers continue to be stubborn. Our Transportation Department has been out checking roads all day and discovered there are still way too many that are unsafe for bus and high school driver traffic. In fact, around 80% of our bus routes remain impacted by the ice. Due to these unfortunate conditions, Henderson County Public Schools will operate on a Remote Learning Day on Thursday, January 29, 2026. It will be an optional workday for staff.
Students should once again refer to their choice boards to complete assignments. Please note that internet access is not required to complete choice board activities. If you have questions or need support, please contact your student’s school on Thursday.
Any staff with travel concerns should communicate directly with their supervisor.

Las temperaturas más cálidas y el sol de hoy continúan ayudando al deshielo en las áreas más afectadas por la tormenta de hielo, pero las gruesas capas de hielo persisten. Nuestro Departamento de Transporte ha estado revisando las carreteras durante todo el día y ha constatado que todavía hay demasiadas que no son seguras para el tránsito de autobuses escolares y conductores de secundaria.
