Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) continued a favorite district tradition this month, welcoming kindergarteners into the HCPS Family in a special way. On September 4th and 5th, in partnership with generous local businesses, the district provided each of the kindergarten students with a commemorative t-shirt proudly displaying “Class of 2038.”

While high school graduation may feel far away, the teal shirts serve as a bright reminder of the educational journey that begins in kindergarten. They celebrate the excitement of a new school year and reflect the connection between students and the community that will support them in the years ahead.

This year, the “Class of 2038” initiative was made possible by the generous support of AdventHealth Hendersonville (presenting sponsor), NC Printing, 4X4 Country, Epperson Tree, Horizon Heat & Air, Hendersonville Family Dental, Mills River Family Dental, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps, and the Henderson County Education Foundation. Their contributions ensured that every kindergarten student received a shirt, fostering a sense of unity across the district.A sponsor from Hendersonville Family Dental helping a kindergartener put on a shirt at a classroom table.

In gratitude for their support, HCPS welcomed representatives from each sponsoring organization to help distribute the t-shirts at schools. This created special moments of connection between the students and the community partners who are committed to walking alongside them in their educational journey.

The t-shirts, in their vibrant teal hue, are more than just a keepsake, they celebrate the promise of graduation after years of learning, friendships, athletics, the arts, and all the opportunities Henderson County Public Schools has to offer. As these kindergarteners take their first steps into school, they do so knowing they are part of something larger—the HCPS Family.
