HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (March 29, 2023) â Innovative High Schoolâs Christine Coren has been named as the districtâs North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teachingâs (NCCAT) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year.
A Family and Consumer Science teacher at Career Academy, Coren is responsible for teaching all courses in the Culinary Academy. Corenâs Foods I and Culinary Arts & Hospitality I-IV students are provided with the tools they need to succeed inside and outside the kitchen with experiential learning. They often cater events for the school and have been featured on WLOSâ Carolina Kitchens segments.
For a decade, Coren has worked for Henderson County Public Schools and is a School Improvement Team member, FCCLA advisor, and CTE department chair.
NCCATâs CTE Teacher of the Year program offers district-level nominees the opportunity to engage in professional development through NCCAT in Cullowhee, where Coren will be competing alongside teachers from other districts for the honor of NCCAT CTE Teacher of the Year.
