Nicole Riddle receives 2022 NCSTA District 8 Outstanding Elementary School Science Teacher Award

Etowah Elementary’s Nicole Riddle received the 2022 North Carolina Science Teachers Association (NCSTA) District 8 Outstanding Elementary School Science Teacher Award on November 3rd.

A 5th grade Math and Science teacher at Etowah, Riddle is always researching and employing instructional methods that will intrigue and inspire her students. She has taught at Etowah for the past 12 years of her 15 year career. Not only is Riddle an engaged Science teacher, but she is a National Board Certified teacher. Riddle is also involved with all aspects of her school by serving as the Chair of the School Improvement Team and proactively looking for opportunities to enhance her instructional skills when she is not teaching in the classroom.

Dr. Amanda Childers, Principal at Etowah nominated Riddle for this award, “Mrs. Riddle is an exceptional educator that impacts students and their families. Many students return to visit Etowah and want to visit with Mrs. Riddle.”

The NCSTA shared why Riddle received the award, “The 2022 NCSTA District 8 Outstanding Elementary School Science Teacher Award is given to a person exhibiting leadership in science education; contributing to improvements in science education; and excelling in the aspects of science education. This honor was determined as a result of Nicole’s professional excellence and contributions to science education in North Carolina.”
