East Flat Rock, N.C. (Dec. 15, 2020) – After the holiday break, Brandon Scott will switch offices at East Henderson High, where he’s been named principal, effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Currently the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for the Eagles, Scott will be filling the Principal office vacated by Carl Taylor, who is moving to Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) Central Office to serve as Chief Administrative Officer.

“East Henderson is a great school because of our staff and students, and it is my hope to continue to add value to this already fantastic culture. East Henderson High School has been such a blessing to me and my family and I am so thankful to Dr. Bryant and the district leadership team for giving me this opportunity,” said Scott.

“I consider it a great honor to be able to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Scott Rhodes and Mr. Carl Taylor, two people who I consider to be outstanding leaders and individuals,” he added.

In 1999, Scott started his education career in HCPS, as an assistant teacher and basketball coach at North Henderson. Shortly after he moved to Florida, where he continued teaching and coaching at the high school level, before transitioning in 2006 to teaching and coaching NCAA Division 2 men’s basketball at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.

He served as Limestone’s men’s basketball team Head Coach from 2007 to 2018, then returned to his high school alma mater in 2018 to lead the Eagles as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.

“Mr. Scott is an Eagle through and through,” said HCPS Superintendent Dr. John Bryant. “His experience on the East campus as a former student, educator, coach, and administrator gives Mr. Scott a unique perspective that will be valuable to his leadership as Principal.”

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a Masters of Business Administration/Management from Limestone College, and a Certificate in Administration from Gardner-Webb University.
