Parents and Caregivers
Below, you will see the HCPS AI Guidelines for Parents and Caregivers. Students will also receive guidelines to assist them with safe and proper usage of AI in the school setting. Administrators and teachers are being trained on the use of AI in the classroom and providing student access as appropriate. HCPS is committed to following usage and age requirements with AI tools used with students.
Our school district is committed to preparing students for a future where Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an increasingly important role in education and daily life. AI tools can serve as powerful learning aids—helping students understand difficult concepts, brainstorm creative ideas, and develop critical thinking skills—when used appropriately and under proper guidance.
As we integrate these technologies into our educational environment, we prioritize student safety and responsible use. We ask that you reinforce with your child the importance of never sharing personally identifiable information (such as full names, addresses, birthdates, photos, or school details) when interacting with AI tools. Additionally, please help your student understand that AI is a supplement to learning, not a substitute for their own effort and original thinking.
We encourage families to have open conversations about academic integrity, the limitations of AI, and the importance of using these tools ethically. Below, you’ll find district-approved AI resources, resources for using AI responsibly, and the HCPS AI Acceptable Use Scale. We welcome your partnership as we navigate this evolving educational landscape together and equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in an AI-integrated world.
