Today, Governor Roy Cooper made an announcement, closing all North Carolina public schools through the end of the school year.
While this announcement effectively answers the question, “Will we return to school this year?” We know that many questions remain. In the coming days, we will share more information about alternative plans for canceled end of year activities and events.
Please be assured we all know that your child’s educational experience is shaped by their connections, relationships, and participation in events that we all cherish and hold dear. When the time comes that we can all be together again, in the same spaces, without fear of handshakes and hugs, we will make every effort to celebrate together, compete together, honor each other, and learn together.
During the school closure, we will continue providing Learn from Home instruction, and it is our intention to continue providing meals for children and childcare for frontline first responders in our community.
We thank you for your patience, adaptability, and grace during this difficult time. We miss and love our HCPS Family, and will continue to communicate with you during this closure.

El día de hoy, el Gobernador Roy Cooper hizo un anuncio, cerrando todas las escuelas públicas de Carolina del Norte hasta el final del año escolar.
Si bien este anuncio responde efectivamente a la pregunta: “¿Volveremos a la escuela este año?” Sabemos que quedan aún muchas más preguntas. En los próximos días, compartiremos más información sobre planes alternativos para las actividades y eventos de cierre de fin de año.
Tenga la seguridad de que todos sabemos que la experiencia educativa de su hijo está moldeada por sus conexiones, relaciones y participación en eventos que todos apreciamos y deseamos tener. Cuando llegue el momento de que todos podamos estar juntos de nuevo, en los mismos espacios, sin temor a apretones de manos y abrazos, haremos todo lo posible para celebrar juntos, competir juntos, celebrarnos los unos a los otros y aprender juntos.
Durante el cierre de la escuela, continuaremos proporcionando Instrucción a través del modelo “Aprende desde tu casa” , y es nuestra intención continuar proporcionando comidas para los niños y servicio de guardería para los hijos del personal de socorristas de primera línea en nuestra comunidad.
