Families in need of reliable meals for their children during the current school closure now have more options available – both from the HCPS Child Nutrition Department and restaurants in the area offering free meals to students.
Beginning Thursday, March 19, the Meals On the Bus is expanding to TWO routes and EIGHT stops, and will be providing breakfast AND lunch meals to better serve our students during the current school closure. Two yellow school buses will stop on weekdays at the following neighborhoods, providing meals to children ages 2-18 at no cost:

Additionally, Sugarloaf Elementary has mobilized a bus to serve meals to children in the North district, and will be making stops on weekdays at the following neighborhoods:

Cedar Bluffs (10:50 a.m.)
Cedar Terrace (11:10 a.m.)
Dermid Circle (11:40 a.m.)
Grab-and-go pickup meals are also still available at no cost to children ages 2-18 at the following school sites on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Atkinson Elementary, Clear Creek Elementary, Dana Elementary, Edneyville Elementary, Etowah Elementary, Fletcher Elementary, Glenn C. Marlow Elementary, Hillandale Elementary, Mills River Elementary, Sugarloaf Elementary, Upward Elementary, and Hendersonville Middle.
The Henderson County Education Foundation has compiled a list of area restaurants offering support to students and families while schools are closed. Visit HCEFNC.org/communitymeals for an updated list of available offerings. Please note this list is subject to change as local restaurants change their operations during this time of uncertainty.
