The purpose of this newsletter is to keep all of our Eagle families connected to what’s going on around campus, to deliver important information, and to have a place where everyone can come to get the information they need.

Book Fair Spirit Week

To celebrate our Book Fair and make this week extra fun, Mrs. Rauschenbach’s class is hosting a book-themed spirit week.

EHHS Registration Day is Coming March 11th!

Registration Day is coming for all current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders!  On March 11th, students will make selections for the 2026-2027 school year for both their core classes and electives under the guidance of both the admin team and the counseling staff. Students will be called down to the Media Center in groups to accomplish this.  Please look over the slides we shared with students in Homeroom to help your student make their class selections ahead of time.

East High is PROUD to announce our 2026 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Miranda Wall!
Mrs. Wall is the proud leader of our EC Department and incredible teacher. She works hard to do what’s best for the students in her care, as well as the teachers under her leadership, every day. She also drives a bus for us every afternoon, continuing to prioritize making meaningful connections with students wherever she can. Fun Fact: Mrs. Wall is an East High alumna, and she chose to come back to serve the school that helped shape her. We are so proud that this Eagle is part of our team! Congratulations, Mrs. Wall, on this well-deserved honor!

Freshman Academy Students of the Month – February

Freshman Academy would like to recognize the following students as the Students of the Month for February:
Bri Cornett and Michelle Guillen Hernandez (not pictured).Michelle is hardworking, kind, funny, and imminently helpful to everyone. She is a joy to have in class. Michelle’s participation and energy bring others out and give everyone more confidence. She is truly a wonderful student and an amazing Eagle.Bri is a wonderful student and an even better person. She is hard working, intelligent, creative, and highly intuitive. She is also exceptionally kind and thoughtful; often supporting students who are struggling or just need a little support.

Here’s to our Eagle of the ​Week​, Bella Taylor!! When faced with complicated challenges​, Bella continues to show up and show out. Keeping her attendance and a positive attitude up​, she is a perfect candidate for this ​h​onor! Thank you for ​s​etting a great example for those around you, Bella!!

Semester 2 Attendance Recovery

Attendance matters. Please make every effort to be at school every day. Missing school means missing valuable instruction.  Should a student go over 5 absences for one or more classes, they will have the following opportunities for attendance recovery throughout the semester.

  • February 14
  • February 28
  • March 7
  • April 11
  • May 2
  • May 9
  • May 16

Saturday School requires advanced sign-up and costs $20 per Saturday. Students may earn up to 6 hours of attendance recovery per Saturday.

Morning academic recovery advertisement with details and stack of books with coffee Morning Attendance Recovery will be offered twice per week this year on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:45-7:45am in Mr. Rotton’s room (B-2). Morning recovery begins March 9th. No advanced sign-up is necessary, and no students will be let in after 6:45am. Please make sure you have things to work on during this time.  Each morning recovery session recovers one absence.

After School Tutoring will be offered three days per week starting March 9th – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – from 3:15-4:15pm in Mrs. Wodzicki’s room (F-10).  Transportation will not be provided, so please make arrangements to be picked up at 4:15pm if attending. Each after school tutoring session recovers one absence.

IMPORTANT: While attendance recovery is awarded for this time, students must be present for tutoring and academic work.

On Wednesday, 7 of our student leaders hosted a group of 34 Leader in Me visitors who came to tour our school and learn about student leadership at East. These students greeted our guests, made a presentation to them about our student leadership initiatives, toured them around our campus, and participated in a Q&A panel to close the day. We are so proud of these students for their hard work preparing for and executing this event:

Our Entrepreneurship class, led by Ms. Rauschenbach, has been working hard with their Book Fair Takeover, and part of the fun includes a door decorating contest with the “Be Literal” theme around campus. Several classes have participated so far, and we are thankful for the enthusiasm and spirit this group has shown to help promote the Book Fair!

On Thursday, a team of six Eagles, led by Ms. Focarino, attended the 7th annual Career Development Competition at Davidson-Davie Community College as a part of their JAG class. Our students represented East Henderson beautifully, bringing home two 2nd-place finishes! (5 images downloaded)

Wyatt Price earned 2nd place in Employability Skills, and our JAG program took 2nd place for their promotional video. Obed Roblero De Los Santos, whose hard work in editing helped make the video a success, deserves a special shoutout.

On Friday, Pardee Hospital celebrated its annual Athletic Trainer Day. Our Sports Med student trainers all attended, along with our EHHS Athletic Trainer, Dr. Audi Mendoza. We are excited to celebrate that junior Clara Allman was named Student Aide of the Year, and Audi was named Athletic Trainer of the Year!  Audi does a phenomenal job with our athletic trainer program, and she is so deserving of this honor. We are proud of our entire Athletic Training Department!

On Friday night, we had our annual East High’s Got Talent show! Mr. Wallce took the opportunity to showcase some spectacular visual art in the auditorium as well to round out the night. This show was a fantastic showcase of our school’s unique cultures and varied talents. Acts included:

  • Taylor Epps, singing
  • Shamila Vazquez Basilio, comedy
  • Spaghettinator, comedic acting
  • Braylen Patterson, singing
  • Nessa & Brenea Luelen, traditional Micronesian dancing
  • Brandon Gutierrez, singing
  • Baile de Latinex, dancing
  • Guitar Trio, singing and guitar playing

Our runner-up for the competition was the Guitar Trio, and our winner this year was the Luelen sisters! We are so proud of all the contestants for putting themselves out there on stage and showcasing their talents. Congratulations to the winners, and a special thanks to Garage Band for closing the show with awesome energy!
