Workkeys test day reminder flyer What is Workkeys? test breakdown information
Workkeys Testing is Thursday, November 20th for all Class of 2026 senior CTE concentrators. Students received an email last week confirming their participation in the test, and an informational meeting was held on Friday, November 7th during Smart Period to give testers all of the details they need.Ā  Many seniors taking the test have been in Workkeys prep classes during Smart Period all semester in preparation for the test. This is the final way for seniors to earn the ACT/Workkeys Incentive Trip to Carowinds this spring. Any senior with a 19 or higher on their ACT from their junior year or a silver or higher on their Workkeys will be eligible to attend this trip. We look forward to fantastic results from all the hard work from our CTE concentrators!Ā  If you have any questions regarding Workkeys, please email Mrs. Lord.

Freshman Academy Students of the Month for October

Brenea holding certificate in SOTM frame Damian holding certificate in SOTM frame
Freshman Academy would like to recognize our students of the month for October: Brenea Luelen and Damian Angeles-Hernandez. Congratulations to both of these Eagles, and keep up the great work!!
Brenea is a wonderful student and person. She is hard working, thoughtful, does her best every day, and is a joy to have in class. Brenea works hard in class and smart period to achieve her best and works with her partners to ensure they also find academic success. She also checks in with everyone to make sure they are doing okay. Damian is always focused and positive in class, even when there are those around him who try to distract him. He is dedicated to doing good work, asks for feedback on his assignments, and acts on the feedback that he gets. He is a great example for other students to model themselves after.

Boys & Girls Club Closed on November 18th

Eagle of the Week

Mr. Barnes in EOTW frame
Our Eagle of the Week is Mr. Barnes! Mr. Barnes works really hard to prepare his lessons each day for his classes. On Thursday, he and Ms. Taylor organized an event for the economics classes to simulate how budgeting works in real life. Mr. Barnes is always keeping his students on task and working hard. Thank you so much for being a great teacher, Mr. Barnes.

Congratulations are in order for our men’s soccer team, who secured a home playoff game on Tuesday for the first round of playoffs and won 6-0 over Stuart W. Cramer High School. On Thursday, they headed to Burns High School for the second round of playoffs and lost by one goal, ending their season. We are proud of these Eagles for their hard work and dedication this season.
FFA groups with Farm Bureau reps
Our FFA chapter was invited to the annual Farm Bureau dinner last week, and it was a great networking opportunity for our young FFA members and a chance to show off those corduroy jackets. We are thankful for all the partnerships that keep clubs like FFA running.

Chef Trey’s Culinary II and III students did a fantastic job preparing a delicious Thanksgiving menu for the guests at this month’s county SGA meeting, hosted by East. Guests included the district leadership team, the principals from all high schools, and the Student Body and Senior Class Presidents from each of the HCPS high schools. After an outstanding meal, guests participated in their meeting business and finished the afternoon with a Thanksgiving-themed Breakout EDU box for some friendly competition and fellowship amongst the presidents.

On Friday, Upward Elementary School kindergarteners visited East to help pass out commemorative shirts to our seniors. The Class of 2026 is one of the four classes that did not receive a kindergarten shirt, so the district, along with generous sponsors, are making sure they don’t graduate without a special shirt. This year’s design came from student leaders in the county and features pennants from each of our HCPS high schools. We are so grateful for this lovely gift for our seniors that they can proudly wear all year long.

Go Eagles!
