Art Show This Week
| We will be hosting an end of semester honor art show “Trust the Process” in the media center from Friday, Dec 5th through Wednesday, December 10th. There will be a reception on Tuesday, December 9th during all 4 lunches as well as from 5:30-6:30 that evening. Please come and check it out! |
It’s Winter Extravaganza Time!
| This Thursday, December 11th, our arts department will host its annual winter extravaganza, featuring our band, orchestra and chorus. Doors open at 5:30pm, and tickets are $5 at the door. This is always a fantastic evening of music, and we invite our Eagle families and community to attend to support the arts. |
Final Exam Information
Teacher-made final exams will be given during class on Thursday and Friday, December 11 and 12. Please note that the daily schedule—attached to this email—will be slightly revised on both days to accommodate the giving of final exams. Remember, final exams count for 20% of a student’s course grade, and all students must be in attendance on December 11 and 12.
In the state of North Carolina, high school students take state final exams in Math 1, Biology, English 2, and Math 3, as well as certain CTE courses. Students enrolled in any of these state-tested classes will take their required exams during the week of December 15 through 19. These state exams also count for 20% of the final course grade, so attendance is required for the scheduled testing session. The schedule for state testing week is included in the attachments to this email.
Please reach out to the school if you have any questions. |
Last Week for Attendance Recovery
As a reminder, students over 5 absences in any course will not have access to Smart Period privileges (all students), and will not walk in the graduation ceremony (upperclassmen). One hour of attendance recovery recovers one absence. Options for making up this seat time include:
Morning Attendance Recovery will be offered twice per week this year on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:45-7:45am in Mr. Rotton’s room (B-2). Morning recovery begins October 20th. No advanced sign-up is necessary, and no students will be let in after 6:45am. Please make sure you have things to work on during this time. Each morning recovery session recovers one absence. |
After School Tutoring will be offered three days per week in Mrs. Wodzicki’s room (F-10) – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – from 3:15-4:15pm. Transportation will not be provided, so please make arrangements to be picked up at 4:15pm if attending. Each after school tutoring session recovers one absence.
IMPORTANT: While attendance recovery is awarded for this time, students must be present for tutoring and academic work. |
Saturday School will be offered one more time this semester on the following date:
The cost of Saturday School is $20 and advanced sign-up is required. Students have the opportunity to earn 6 hours of recovery at each Saturday School. |

Last Week in Eagle Country
| Last week, all-county band members participated in the annual clinic and concert. We are very proud of these musicians: Emma Parsons (flute), Shaniya Weed (flute), Braylen Patterson (clarinet), Delaney Lucey (clarinet), Josilen Lane (clarinet), Bella Knapp (bass clarinet), Joley Guidry (alto saxophone), Ella Maynard (French horn), Elija Mullet (percussion), and Micah Rowley (percussion). Congratulations and job well-done! |
| On Tuesday, our Guitar Club traveled to Grace Lutheran for the Rotary Club of Hendersonville’s monthly meeting and luncheon. There, they were able to show off their skills and explain what the grant money they received means to them. It was a great opportunity for students to lead and show gratitude, and we are so thankful for the continued support of the Rotary for our community and school efforts. |
| On Wednesday, SGA and our Exceptional Eagles made their annual trip to Carolina Village to share some holiday cheer with the residents there. This group dressed in festive attire and sang Christmas carols around several buildings on the Carolina Village campus. When they returned to campus, they shared some hot chocolate and snacks while they watched a holiday movie together. This fellowship was a great way to enjoy the holiday season together. |
| At Wednesday’s wrestling quad, our War Eagles also hosted and celebrated East High’s own 1995-1996 State Championship team. Many of the wrestling team members and coaches attended, sharing in the celebration and enjoying being back together as a team. We are thankful for the foundation that these alumni laid. |

Last week, our DECA team competed at Brevard College and came home with impressive results!
- Stella Medina placed in the top five in the marketing communication event.
- Sydney Stepp and Emily Pena Alejos placed 2nd overall in the hospitality and tourism team event and are hoping for a bid to state!
We are so proud of the hard work this team put in, and we are looking forward to a bright future for these Eagles led by Mrs. Ashe and Mrs. Lowry. Congratulations and job well done! |
| On Friday, one day ahead of St. Nicholas Day, our SGA got to play Santa while delivering treats and toys to Dana Elementary students. Wildcats left their shoes or decorated paper bags outside their classrooms hoping they’d be filled with goodies when they returned to them. |
| Saturday Night, our Eagle Regiment marched in the Hendersonville Christmas Parade with pride and holiday spirit! Our football team also joined in the fun, alongside Swoop! And our Homecoming Queen, Emily Pena, enjoyed a ride in the parade as well! |
