Winter Sports Senior Night is This Tuesday
Our Winter Sports Senior Night is this Tuesday, February 11th. Our celebration will take place between the boys and girls varsity basketball games in the new gym. All escorts participating must check in by halftime of the girls varsity game, before 7:00pm. Once the third quarter of the girls varsity game is over, all escorts and seniors need to report to the back hallway of the gym where Mr. Ramsey will organize you into the correct order. Ms. Pippin and Mr. Scott will be helping direct you on the court, and cheerleaders will help you find your mark on the floor to stand during the presentation of our seniors. Douglas Hargrove will be taking photos at center court. Flowers will be provided for each senior athlete, and the balloons on the floor at your mark are yours to keep after the ceremony is completed. Additionally, our East Henderson photo backdrop will be available in the lobby near the ticket table so all families can take photos as desired. If you have any questions about our Winter Sports Senior Night celebration, please contact our Athletic Director, Matthew Ramsey. Thank you for your dedication and support to Eagle Athletics and to your student-athlete. We will see you Tuesday evening. Go Eagles! |
Blood Drive – This Thursday
This Thursday, February 13th, SGA will host its annual Blood Drive, operated by The Blood Connection. We will be set up in the Old Gym all day to receive donations from all students 16 years and older, all staff, and any Eagle parents who would like to donate. Donors must be at least 110 pounds.
Student and parent donors must sign up in advance at the following link:
https://donate.thebloodconnection.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/248524
Parent Consent Forms for 16 and 17 year olds must be signed and turned in to Mrs. Rogers by donation time. These can be found in the main office.
Every donor will receive $30 and the school will earn money for every 30 donations. The Blood Connection shares, “We are over-the-moon to be saving lives with East Henderson High. Your contribution means the world to us, and to the lives in your local community.” Questions? Email Mrs. Rogers or come see her in C5. |
Academic Recovery Options
Morning Academic Recovery continues four days per week with Mr. Rotton in room B-2. Students earn one recovered absence per morning session. |
Every Wednesday, we offer After-School Tutoring for all students. After school tutoring is just that–tutoring. It is a time and space for students to get help with academic work, complete assignments, study, or read. Read through the document below for more detailed information, and watch your student email and Homeroom Google Classroom for more information.
How After-School Tutoring Works |
We are offering several Saturday School dates this semester. On each date, we operate from 9:00am-3:00pm, which means a student may earn six recovered absences per Saturday. The cost is $20 per Saturday, and advanced sign-up is required.
Remaining Saturday School Dates:
- April 12
- May 3
- May 17
- May 24

Seniors: Order Your Cap & Gown – Deadline is Saturday!
May 30th will be here before we know it, and it is crucial that you get your cap and gown package ordered before it’s too late. All seniors who are walking at graduation MUST have a cap and gown package purchased by February 15th to guarantee that their items arrive on time.
Instructions for ordering the cap and gown package can be found here, and instructions are in both English and Spanish: Instructions
If you have any questions regarding cap and gown package orders, please contact your child’s counselor via email by calling East at 697-4768.
NOTE: The original cap and gown ordering deadline at the original price was December 31st. The price has now gone up, and seniors were informed of this at their Senior Cap & Gown Meeting on November 13th. |
HCPS Choral Festival & Concert
The Henderson County Public Schools Choral Program is excited to present an incredible opportunity for our students! On February 21, 2025, all HCPS Choral Directors and approximately 100 students will gather for a full-day choral festival featuring workshops, fun activities, and a special evening performance.
Students will learn from an amazing choral clinician, participate in engaging workshops, and enjoy a day filled with music, learning, and fun. The event will conclude with an evening concert at 6:30 PM.
Students will be bused from East Henderson High School to St. James Episcopal at 8:30 AM. I have provided a list of students who will be attending that day. Please note that they will not be returning to school afterward and I will send a reminder email closer to the date of the event.
Concert Tickets
If you would like to attend this beautiful concert, please use the QR code on the attached flyer to reserve your seats. Seating is limited, so be sure to grab your tickets early. We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are $10.
As always, thank you for supporting our Choral Program! |

The Freshman Academy would like to recognize Arturo Moreno Rodriguez and Damaris Verdugo Ramos as the Students of the Month for January.
Damaris is very respectful to her peers, works studiously on all assignments, has a kind disposition and positively contributes to class activities. Damaris is an overall pleasure to have in class.

Eagle of the Week
This week’s Eagle of the Week is Kaylee Melton! Kaylee is a member of SGA, and she created a scholarship for her Leave a Legacy Project to honor the late Carson Mathes. She organized a scholarship fundraiser night at a recent basketball game, raising $1400 to add to the scholarship fund. Kaylee’s passion for honoring Carson’s legacy while providing future opportunities for students pursuing education and careers in the ag industry is something to celebrate. Great work, Kaylee! |
Last Week in Eagle Country
On Monday, Mr. Maynard’s English 4 classes took a field trip during their class period to the Henderson County Public Library Main Branch to learn all about the amazing services offered for free right here in our town. Librarians worked with students to help them complete a scavenger hunt throughout the library. Many students learned about services they didn’t know the library offered, and some even got signed up for their free library card. |
All last week and continuing this week, several English classes visited the library to participate in Book Speed Dating. This exercise allows them to interact with several different types of books to help them choose the right one for them. These customers look pretty happy with their choices! |
On Tuesday, we celebrated our winter sports team and many of our semester one accomplishments at our pep rally. The end of the day was full of amazing performances, fun celebrations, tropical-themed games and plenty of Eagle pride. |
Since clubs have started back up, students have been able to try new clubs offered around campus as well as well-established clubs. One of the new clubs this semester is Mrs. Justice’s Board Game Club, seen here really enjoying their first day of game-filled fun. Our DECA group is still going strong on Mondays, and FCA is always a favorite on Fridays. |
Last week, Coach Allman took Alden Masters and Brooke Cantrell to a Skills USA competition at Blue Ridge Community College. These students worked incredibly hard, and it paid off! Alden got 1st place in Project Showcase Cabinetmaking, and Brooke got 4th place in welding. Both of these students had performances that qualified them for the state competition. Congratulations, Alden and Brooke! |
Thursday brought on the FFA Cornole tournament, featuring lots of cornhole competitors, fellowship among friends, and some delicious wings barbequed by our own Mr. Rollins and Rylan Burrell. Thank you to everyone who came out to compete and to the winners! |
Thursday was a busy day at East High, and it concluded with our annual BRCC Night. Over 100 people attended to hear about options for BRCC classes, the cohort, and life after high school right in our media center. Thank you to Dr. DeWitt and Ms. Stucke for sharing their knowledge and passion, as well as our outstanding counseling department. |
Over the weekend, three of our own band students – Porter Allen, Braylon Patterson & Mackenzie Oody-Patterson – were a part of the WNC All-District Band Clinic at Western Carolina University. We are so proud of these musicians and know that they had an amazing time collaborating with musicians around the state. |
Over the weekend, our women’s wrestling team competed individually for a chance at the state championships, and our own Mia Roberson finished with a huge win in the blood round to place 3rd in the tournament and earn herself a big to state in two weeks! We are so proud of you, Mia! Way to work! |
