Freshman Academy Students of the Month for March
Freshman Academy would like to recognize Grayson Winkleman and Henry Love as our students of the month for March.
Grayson excels in class. He is insightful and makes connections many other students miss. Grayson is a great group member and lab partner, and his contributions increase everyone’s learning. While quiet and serious about his academics, Grayson is also funny and engaging.
Henry is a student that strives to do his best in everything he is involved in at East. He is an excellent communicator and critical thinker, always willing to put in the extra work to get better. Henry is a great teammate and group member, helping his peers and encouraging them to always do the right thing. |
Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9, and we would love your help in treating our teachers to a fantastic week celebrating all the amazing work they do. SGA is working hard getting gift card donations from local businesses, but you can help by donating $20 gift cards to stores of your choosing to add to SGA’s efforts. Don’t wait to donate a gift card but still want to help? Consider donating coffee, doughnuts, bagels, baked goods, experiences/services, or anything else you can think of. Donations can be delivered to the main office with attention to Katie Rogers. Thank you for helping celebrate our teachers! |
Congratulations to our 2025-2026 SGA Officers!

Academic Recovery Options
Morning Academic Recovery continues four days per week with Mr. Rotton in room B-2. Students earn one recovered absence per morning session. |
Every Wednesday, we offer After-School Tutoring for all students. After school tutoring is just that–tutoring. It is a time and space for students to get help with academic work, complete assignments, study, or read. Read through the document below for more detailed information, and watch your student email and Homeroom Google Classroom for more information.
How After-School Tutoring Works |
We are offering several Saturday School dates this semester. On each date, we operate from 9:00am-3:00pm, which means a student may earn six recovered absences per Saturday. The cost is $20 per Saturday, and advanced sign-up is required.

Eagle of the Week
This week’s Eagles of the Week are the amazing, talented choir ensemble – Keilah Camp, Jadyn Shook, Sidney Knapp, Victoria Huntley, Holly Ramsey, Bridgette Kelly, Leah Parsons, Jed Mathis and special guest Jordan Brown! This week’s spring pep rally was the first time for a performance like this – singing the Alma Mater to help surprise the student body with our new banners. We are so proud of them!! We look forward to more of this tradition ahead. Thank you so much, Eagles! |
Last Week in Eagle Country
On Tuesday, our softball team honored many of our staff in their annual Staff Night game. Staff wore their player’s jersey and got to be honored before the game. Thank you to Coach Collins and the softball team for this special moment! |
Our Horticulture students have been working hard to prepare for this Saturday’s annual Plant Sale, and their hard work is certainly paying off! Join us starting at 8am for some of the most beautiful plants you can buy that all support a great cause! |
On Earth Day, Mr. Reed’s Exceptional Eagles built a model of a land bridge, because they were learning all about how land bridges help animals get safely over highways without getting hurt. These guys did a great job constructing a model to help learn the concept. |
On Thursday, FRMS 8th graders visited East as an introduction to the campus. Student leaders led tour groups all over campus, and the 8th graders got to join us for our spring mini pep rally celebrating our spring sports, Special Olympics, and some extra fun surprises for our last pep rally of the year. It was so special to have our rising freshmen in the mix as we all thanked the Class of 2025 for their dedication to East High over the last 4 years. Certainly a great day to be an Eagle! |

Mrs. Wirt & Mrs. Allman’s biology classes got to have a special treat on Friday outside of their normal classroom routine. Mrs. Wirt brought in Dr. Richard Lutze, a post-doc at UNC working on cardiovascular health to talk to the Biology classes on NC DNA Day. He presented on Pharmacogenomics, personalized medicine based on your individual genetics. He covered how our genetics influence medicines, and did a hands-on experiment with students examining the genetics of taste and taste buds to demonstrate how we are all similar, but also have key differences. Students were engaged, and able to ask career questions about the science field. Thank you for making this event happen, Mrs. Wirt! |
Ms. Stewart’s 4th period English 1 class spent Friday in the library for a poetry celebration, hosted by Mrs. Justice. Students were celebrating National Poetry Month by creatively working on black out poetry, found poetry, poker poetry, magnetic poetry, paint chip poetry and post-it note poetry. We love that these Eagles were poets for the day! |

Our first Senior Walk-Through took place for Saluda School students who are graduating from East. There is only a small number of East students who attended elementary school there, but the staff made these soon-to-be graduates feel welcome and celebrated. The remaining HCPS Senior Walk-Throughs will all take place this Friday, May 2nd at the elementary schools. |

On Saturday night, our juniors and seniors enjoyed a Great Gatsby-themed Prom at The Main Event in downtown Hendersonville. It was a night filled with music, dancing, food, fun, and friends for both students and staff! Thank you to all the students who attended who made us proud. |
Go Eagles!
