Thank You to our Teacher Appreciation Week Sponsors

While we focused on our gratitude for our amazing staff last week for Teacher Appreciation Week, we could not have created their week of celebration without the help of some amazing parents, community sponsors, and our Booster Club who donated time, food, gift cards, money, food, and other giveaways. It is not lost on us how special our community is, and we encourage you to support businesses that support schools!

News from the Nurse

If your student is a rising 12th grader, please be on the lookout for a letter from the school nurse.  This is being sent to students who require vaccines prior to the next school year.  If your child is up to date, you will not receive a letter. This letter will go home with students this week, May 6th via their homeroom class.

In addition, if your student has any known medical concerns, I am sending home an envelope addressed to you with information and paperwork included.  This envelope will be given to your student on May 6th in their homeroom class.

If you do not receive an envelope, and feel that your student has the need for a medical care plan in the upcoming school year, please contact me. I will be working at the school over the summer break.

If your student will take any medicines at school next year, please have the medication administration form completed  by you and the prescribing provider this summer. Please bring the form to school with the medication prior to the first day of school in August. This form is available in the nurse’s office or by download here.  All medication must be brought to the school by the parent or guardian and signed in by the nurse.

Any questions, reach out to the school nurse – Ann Thomas – at 697-4768.

Seven Eagles Earn Associates Degree

Congratulations are in order for our SEVEN Class of 2026 Eagles who received their Associates Degree from Blue Ridge Community College two weeks ahead of their high school graduation. This group has worked tirelessly to take CCP courses to fulfill this requirement and most will enter college as juniors as a result. This is an amazing accomplishment, and we are so proud of Donovan Buddo, Davis Harvey, Tyler Hill, Cora Marshall, Ryah McDonald, Tristan Rutterford, Julia Trollinger. We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of Kate Stucke, BRCC NC Career Coach, who guided each of these students toward this goal.   Here is a link to an article about these fantastic students.

Eagle of the Week

Chef Trey in front of Eagle Rock Cafe sign
This week, we would like to acknowledge and appreciate Chef Trey and his third period Culinary 3 class, who made over 500 chocolate chip cookies for Teacher Appreciation Week in four days. Last week, they also made hundreds of brownies for our annual Drawdown, and held their final Teacher Lunch of the year. We are so thankful for the experience Chef Trey gives his students every day.
