I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We had such an awesome week last week, with our Kindergarteners receiving their “HCPS Senior Class of 2036” t-shirts, and ending the week with an incredible showing that the West Henderson Football game for Elementary Night. It was so great seeing all of our Buckaroos run out onto the field, awesome school spirit!
We also received some great news from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. For the 2022 – 2023 school year, Glenn Marlow Elementary School received a School Performance Grade (SPG) of a B (81), and overall MET School Growth with an index score of 0.33. Marlow Elementary had the highest SPG of all the elementary schools in Henderson County, and the second highest grade for all of HCPS. That is outstanding! I am so proud of all the hard work our teachers, staff, students, families, and community put in to make that happen, and we look forward to continuing that positive trend this year. Thank you!
As you may know, Marlow Elementary is celebrating 25 years this year! Opening in 1999, we have reached a quarter-century of existence, and we are ready to celebrate.
Our first celebration Spirit Day will come next Monday, September 18th, the “25th Day of School,” as we say “Hats Off to 25 Years!” We want all our students, staff, and families to wear their favorite hat to school next Monday. We will continue to celebrate throughout the year, hosting a spirit day every 25 days. More information on them will be in next week’s Message.

Morning and Afternoon Reminders
AM Car Riders: Our doors open at 7:30. Parents and students, please do not get out of the car until you see the front doors open, and a Marlow Staff member is present. This is a safety issue, and we appreciate your adherence to this protocol.
Transportation Changes: Parents, please be sure that you are notifying your child’s HR teacher if there are any PM transportation changes. If a change must happen during the school day, we ask that you call the office (before 2 pm if possible) to ensure that we get the message to both the teacher and student.
Do not use the Class DoJo app (or any other Social Media app) to make a transportation changes for your child. Please call the office, and we will see students get to the proper method home.
For both the AM and PM on Butler Bridge Road: We would like to ask our Marlow families please be “good neighbors” to Aletheia Academy Childcare next door and leave their entrance “unblocked” during drop-off and pick-up. This will allow their families, staff, and any emergency vehicles, if ever needed, access in and out of their center. They will appreciate this kind and thoughtful courtesy very much. Thank you!
For PM Car Riders Parents: Please be sure you have the neon green car rider signs displayed in your windshield when picking up students…You are doing a great job of this!
Also, please stay in your car, or next to your car, when students are dismissed to walk. We promise, we will get them to the right car, and if we have parents wondering the parking lot and sidewalk, it can create a safety issue. Thank you for your help with this.
GMES Spirit Night at Chick-fil-a (Airport Road)
When: Tuesday, September 19th, 5 PM

Movie Night at Marlow is Back!
Parents enjoy a night alone while your student joins teachers and classmates for a movie night at school! On Friday September 29th, we will be showing “The Super Mario Brothers Movie.”
The night will include a pizza dinner, freshly popped popcorn, and fun with friends. Students are invited to wear their pajamas, bring their water bottles, and bring their favorite items to cozy up during the movie with. The doors will open at 6:00 pm with a pick up time at 8:30 pm.
How to sign your student(s) up:
- Please sign up using the Google Form. If you have multiple students attending please fill out the form more than once. This allows the teachers working the event to have contact information for your student.
- Make it official by paying for the event. Payments can be made through School Cash Online.

Q1 Midterms Distributed/Made Available This Wednesday
It is hard to believe that 1st Quarter midterms will be distributed / made available this week, Wednesday, September 13th. K-2 students and parents will receive a paper copy of the midterms, and 3-5 students will have their midterm available online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Please take this time to talk with your child about his or her academic progress, your plans for continued success, upcoming class assignments, and strategies to improve performance as we prepare for your child’s achievement throughout the year.
Grades 3-5 parents, if you are having trouble logging into the Parent Portal, please contact Jo Pittman, our Marlow Data Manager, here at school for further assistance.
