Good evening Marlow families!

We had a fantastic first day back today! We saw lots of smiling faces, heard lots of laughs, and saw all of our Buckaroos already hard at work to begin the school year. We even had a visit from our new Superintendent, Mr. Mark Garrett!

I cannot tell you how proud I am of all our students and staff, and what they accomplished today. We are looking forward to seeing the “second half” of our Kindergartners tomorrow!

The 2022-2023 school year is officially off and running!

Have a great Monday, and thank you for all that you do!

A message from our Marlow PTO:

  • The Glenn C. Marlow PTO welcomes all kindergarten and other new parents to the BooHoo / Yahoo! Breakfast on Wednesday August 31st, starting at approximately 8:15am in the cafeteria. Sign in at the office and then join us for coffee and treats (and tissues if needed), learn about the PTO, meet other kindergarten and new parents, ask questions you may have about PTO or general questions about the school/kindergarten. We hope to see you there!
  • Follow Glenn C. Marlow PTO on FaceBook and Instagram@glennmarlowPTO.

2022 – 2023 Breakfast / Lunch prices:

  • As you may know, the Universal Free School Lunch program ended in August 2022, and for the 2022 – 2023 school year, school lunch prices will be the following:
    • K-5 Lunch: $3.50
    • K-12 Breakfast: $1.75
  • All students will be receiving a paper copy of the meal benefits application the first week of school. Families can also apply online at the Meal Benefits Application website. I encourage all of our families to apply for meal benefits, as your acceptance into this program helps you and provides federal dollars directly to Glenn Marlow Elementary School to help pay for teachers, tutors, and additional resources. If you have any questions, please contact the HCPS Child Nutrition Dept at (828) 891-6310

Morning Car Rider line help!:

  • We are always in need of volunteers (both Moms and Dads) to help us with morning car rider line, ensuring that students get out of their car in a safe and timely manner, keeping the line running smoothly.
  • If you are interested in helping out, send me an email at jehart@hcpsnc.org, or, just show up and help out. We have a lot of fun!!

HCPS Student Code of Conduct:

  • Please see the HCPS Student Code of Conduct (Spanish). Included are county and school expectations as it relates to:
    • Dress Code
    • Chromebook Expectations

  • Please take minute to read through this. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school.

GMES Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A (on Airport Road):

  • Join us for the GMES Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A on September 20th, from 5-8 pm. 10-20% of all purchases made by Glenn Marlow families will be donated back to our school!

Student Chromebooks:

  • All this week during Media Center Specials, students will be issued a Chromebook that they will use throughout the school year for classroom assignments, projects, and local, district, and state assessments.
  • But unlike year’s past, students will not have to transport their Chromebooks to and from school everyday. Students will only take their Chromebooks home on an “as needed” basis.
  • If you have any questions about Chromebooks and student usage, please contact our Media Coordinator, Ms. Dina Waxman, here at the school.
