Chromebooks

  • If your child has a Chromebook from last year, they will keep that Chromebook and continue to use it for this school year.
  • Chromebooks will be available for pick up beginning Wednesday, August 5th.  Parents can come to the office to check one out from 8:00-3:00 Monday-Friday.
  • Kindergarten parents may check one out at the Kindergarten Family Welcome on August 13th.
  • If your child’s Chromebook is in need of repair or if you need Technical Support, you can contact LearnFromHome@hcpsnc.org or call our new Tech Support Help Desk at 828-435-3480.
  • If you need Internet connectivity assistance, HCPS is still offering wireless access in school parking lots, and working on additional options for access. Please let us know if you are unable to access the Internet to help focus our efforts in supporting our families with limited connectivity during remote learning.

Teacher Assignments

Teachers will be personally calling students and their parents to introduce themselves August 10th-12th.

Kindergarten Family Welcome Night

When:  Thursday, August 13th

In order to adhere to safety protocols, please join us during the time below that corresponds with your child’s last name.  We will also only be permitting one or two parents with every student to minimize the number of people in our building.  There will be temperature checks at the door and face coverings will be required.

Kindergarteners with last names beginning with the letters:

  • A-G will attend from 5:30-6:00.
  • H-O will attend from 6:15-6:45.
  • P-Z will attend from 7:00-7:30.

Remote Learning

We understand that parents have some concerns about the instruction that will be provided online by their child’s teacher.  We are hoping to ease some anxiety with these updates.

  • During Plan C, students will receive 4 hours of direct instruction online each day.  Our teachers know that it is not healthy or effective for students to stare at a screen for 4 hours.  That time will incorporate movement breaks, time to write on paper away from the screen, time to access online instructional programs such as iReady, and time to work in small groups online with classmates.  Our teachers are preparing engaging, fun, and effective online lessons and assignments.
  • During Plan C, students can take advantage of on-campus tutoring and support by appointment. Please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Susan Garren, our school counselor, to request appointments for these in-person sessions.
