Media Center Information

During the school year, Mrs. McVey is here to help you find materials for your information needs and enjoyment. Our collection includes books, a wide variety of magazines, and many audio and visual resources both in the library and on the internet from NCWiseOwl and World Book Online. We also have a growing bilingual section.  Let us help you navigate the wealth of information available.

We are here to help you succeed in school and life! OPEN CHECKOUT is M, T, W and F  from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and in the afternoons from 2:45-3:00 p.m., except Wednesday.  Students may keep books up to two weeks before they become overdue.  Please renew your book if you still need it. If a book becomes damaged, please return it to the library as soon as possible so we can put it in the “book hospital” for repair.  If it is wet, please do not close it. Stand it up and fan the pages out to dry.

All students have weekly 50 minute library classes where we explore quality literature and learn about Sources of Information, Technology Tools, Informational Text, Research Process, and Safety and Ethical Issues.  Students also have time to check out books during their class period. We are always happy to have volunteers help us shelve books and assist students during open-checkout or during the Book Fair.  Please contact us if you are interested.
