2025-2026 Class Trips

These class trips are designed to enhance studentsā€™ learning experience by providing hands-on, real-world connections to what they are studying in the classroom.Ā  These trips will also provide fun activities which will result in positive memories of their time at Flat Rock.

Payments may be made online atĀ schoolcashonline.com, or students may bring their payment in to their homeroom teacher.Ā  Cash or checks accepted (Checks should be made out to Flat Rock Middle School).

We want every student to have the opportunity to attend their class trip. Fundraising opportunities will be available for those who may find the cost to be a barrier.

We will be sending home additional information throughout the year, including a detailed itinerary, packing list (if necessary), and permission slip. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like more information about fundraising opportunities, please contact your studentā€™s homeroom teacher.

Please note that any student with 4 or more days of Out of School Suspension (OSS) during the school year will not be permitted to attend the class trip. Any class trip payments paid by these students will not be refunded.

8th Grade Trip 2026

  • Destination:Ā  Riverbanks Zoo in Colombia, SC; Historic Charleston, SC; Folly Beach, SC; and Carowinds in Charlotte, NC
  • Dates of Trip:Ā  April 15, April, 16, and April 17, 2026
  • Cost:Ā  About $475 per student depending on how many students participate.
    • Cost includes tickets to all attractions, HCPS-approved deluxe DVD-equipped motorcoach transportation, 2 night deluxe hotel accommodations (group split by gender between two hotel properties), and 6 meals: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners.
  • Payment Plan and Due Dates:Ā  The cost of the trip will be split into 4 payments:
    • $100 deposit due October 31 (this is non-refundable)
    • $100 payment due December 5
    • $150 payment due January 30
    • Final payment of the remainder due March 6

7th Grade Trip 2026

  • Destination:Ā  NC Zoo in Asheboro, NC
  • Date of Trip:Ā  April 23, 2026
    • Students arrive to FRMS between 6:00am-6:25am
    • Departure Time from FRMS: 7am
    • Arrival Time Back to FRMS: 7:15pm – Parents must be at school to pick up at this time. This time can be delayed based on traffic.
  • Cost:Ā  About $110 per student depending on how many students participate.
    • The above costs include the following:
      • Breakfast included at school – Donuts and a Drink.
      • FRMS Field Trip T-Shirt.
      • Bagged lunch will be provided at the Zoo.
      • Payment for coach buses so students can ride comfortably and safely.
      • Dinner is included on the return trip.
  • Payment Plan and Due Dates:Ā  The cost of the trip will be split into 3 payments:
    • $50 deposit and permission forms due November 13, 2025 (this is non-refundable)
    • $30 installment due December 18, 2025
    • $30 installment due January 22, 2026
  • Chaperones: Chaperones will be on a first-come, first-served basis per homeroom. We will contact you by the end of January to let you know whether you have been selected to go with us.
  • Extra Money: Please feel free to send money with your student on the field trip day for additional snacks and/or souvenirs. Students will be allowed to bring a small bag to hold their belongings. A refillable water bottle is recommended. Cell phones are allowed on this trip, but students must use them respectfully and responsibly.

6th Grade Trip 2026

  • Destination:Ā  Biltmore House and Grounds
  • Date of Trip: April 14 and 15, 2026 (one 6th grade team each day)
  • Cost: $60 plus a bagged lunch (either from school or home)
  • Payment Plan and Due Dates:Ā  The cost of the trip will be split into 3 payments:
    • $20 deposit due October 30
      $20 payment due November 25
      $20 final payment due January 30
