Message from Mr. Moore – Week of 10/19-10/23/2020

Rugby words from the principal
Due to the age of this article, the information below could be outdated or incorrect.

Unbelievably, we have completed the first quarter of our 2020-21 school year. Report Cards will be emailed to parent email addresses on Thursday, October 22 and will be available for viewing via PowerSchool then, also. For our in-person students, A Group will receive printed report cards on Thursday, 10/22; B Group students will receive printed report cards on Friday, 10/23. Any Remote Learning Option students who desire a printed copy of report cards need to request that from their RT teacher.

With our online start and the shift to Plan B, HCPS has modified the academic calendar for the 2020-21 school year. Tuesday 11/3 (Election day) is now an Optional Teacher Workday. Also, Wednesday, 11/11 remains a holiday for Veterans Day. The school will be closed on this date.

HCPS Flu Shot clinics look a little different this year, but the school system and the Henderson County Dept. of Public Health are partnering to provide clinics for our school communities. HCPS families can attend any of the county clinics, and no appointment is necessary, and shots are available for students and family members. The remaining clinic in the county is as follows:

North Henderson High School, Monday, October 19, 12:00-4:00 pm

SCHOOL PICTURES: Fall pictures days will be held on October 22nd for A Group students (Last name A-K) and October 23rd for B Group students (Last name L-Z) beginning at noon on both days. Remote Learning Option students will be able to come in from 3:00- 4:00 pm both days to have a picture taken. Payment for pictures can be made via the envelope on the flyer or preferably online at mylifetouch.com. Lifetouch shares revenue from school pictures with schools, making these photos both a valuable family keepsake and a huge benefit to the school. Make up or retake pictures will not be possible this year, so this will be the only chance to purchase a picture or have an image in the yearbook. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Landreth at the school at 891-6566.

GREAT NEWS!!! The USDA has extended the feeding program that makes school meals FREE for all students through this entire school year. Again, this program allows HCPS School Nutrition to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students at school and allows us to send meals home for students’ remote days.

Between now and the end of October, your students will be trained on the statewide anonymous reporting system, Say Something. This program allows students to report concerns anonymously to trained counselors, who will triage the concern and forward as appropriate to school administrators and/or law enforcement. Students can download this app to their personal devices, or they can simply go to the Say Something website to make the report.

As always, we hope you will let us know if you have feedback or concerns. Our success depends upon our open communication and cooperation with the families we serve. Please reach out to the school at 828-891-6566 if you have questions.
