Mr. Moore’s Announcements 9/3/19 to 9/6/19
#WeAreRugby
Thanks to everyone for an amazing first week. Last week was the smoothest opening week in recent memory, thanks in part to a great community and a great staff, all with the goal of providing a nurturing and productive experience for our GREAT STUDENTS! We are Rugby, and we are off to a great start!
Our fall athletic teams have begun their contests with a wildly successful first week in which RMS emerged undefeated for the week. We strongly encourage parents, students and community members to come join us in supporting our students and cultivating school spirit. Admission for students is $2 and for adults is $4. Our athletic department also offers an All Sports Pass for the school year (offers a significant savings if you attend athletic contests throughout the year). Contact Mr. Gates for more information about this and sponsorship opportunities through our athletic department. These routine emails to families will always include the schedule of upcoming events, athletic and otherwise.
As we move further into the school year, Rugby will also host many events to highlight our exceptional Fine Arts programs as well. Encourage your students to participate, and we hope you will join us to see the talent of our students and teachers working together! The first of these opportunities will be our annual fall musical, and this year, that will be Mary Poppins. These auditions begin on Monday, September 16. If your student is interested, encourage him/her to pay close attention to announcements, which will provide details about these opportunities.
Rugby offers a unique monthly opportunity for students and families to engage in a “book club” together. Rugby Reading Raiders offers families the chance to read the same books and complete activities designed by students. The first Reading Raiders of the 2019-20 school year will be held in the RMS Media Center on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:15.
Fall Picture Day is Thursday, September 12. Lifetouch sends a significant portion of the proceeds back to the school, so school pictures are a great way to support the school and to document this phase in your student’s life. Expect further communication about this in the near future.
Open House– To improve the experience for all involved, we split our Open House into two separate events, one for 7th and 8th grade and a separate one for 6th grade. The schedule for these is as follows:
- 7th and 8th grade Open House is Tuesday, September 10, 2019.
- 6th Grade Open House is Tuesday, September, 24, 2019.
Both events will begin at 6:00 pm and last until 7:30 pm.
Our Guidance Dept will host our annual Back to School Dance on Friday, September 13 from 3-5 pm. Admission for students is $3.00 (and concessions will be available for sale, also), and our counselors will be setting up time for ticket presales in the near future. We encourage students to come out and have a great time to kick off the school year.
