Mountain Xpress is now accepting art, poems and essays for their 2019 Kids Issues, our annual two-part extravaganza featuring the creative work of Western North Carolina K-12 students. If you are interested in submitting a piece of art see Mrs. Johnson (the Art Teacher) for more details. The deadline is February 8th.
ARTISTS SHOW
Attention artist! There is an art show coming up and we are looking for quality work. See Mrs. Johnson for more information. Please do not submit work that is wrinkled, on lined paper, or unfinished work. Photography will be accepted for this show as well as paintings, drawings, and sculpture

How to enter: Bring in 25 box tops that are not expired in a baggie/envelope with your full name and RT teacher’s name written on it. For each set of 25 box tops, you will be entered into a drawing for the $25 gift card! You can give your baggie/envelope to your RT teacher or to Mrs. Henry or Ms. Foster.
GEMS & GEOLOGY CLUB
Rugby’s Gems & Geology Club will meet this Wednesday, January 23rd until 4 pm in Ms. Robinson’s room, G5. Bring your favorite stones and stories for a ROCKIN’ GOOD TIME!
READING RAIDERS
The next Reading Raider Party…Please promote to your students that Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys will be the next Reading Raider book on February 12. We are selling the books in the media center for $5.00 as long as they last.
SOFTBALL TRYOUTS
Softball tryouts are coming.
February 11: 6th and 7th graders – 3:30 to 5pm. February 12: 8th graders – 3:30 to 5pm.
February 13: all grades – 3:30 to 5pm.
You must have a sports physical on file to tryout.
TRACK TRYOUTS
If you are interested in trying out for the Track Team, please sign up on the sign up sheet in the boys and girls locker rooms. Tryouts are on Feb. 11. You need to have a physical completed BEFORE tryouts.
