Notes From The Principal

Hello Knight Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We are excited about the upcoming school year and want to ensure that our families are as up-to-date as possible. Below you will find preliminary information about schedules, 9th-grade orientation, school supplies, expectations, parking passes, and much more. We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! We look forward to seeing you all in August.

Class Schedules
Class schedules will be finalized on August 12, 2022. Schedules that are accessed before August 12 may be inaccurate.Ā Seniors can pick up their schedules on August 15, Juniors on August 16, Sophomores on August 17, and Freshmen on August 18 while attending 9th Grade Orientation. Schedules can be picked up outside the front office between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Freshmen Orientation Information
August 18th, 2022

-Session 1: 8:30 – 10:00 – Freshmen with the last name starting with “A” through “G”

-Session 2: 11:00 – 12:30 – Freshmen with the last name starting with “H” through “O”

-Session 3: 1:30 – 3:00 – Freshmen with the last name starting with “P” through “Z”

Students should be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. Students will hear from school administrators, obtain bus information, obtain lunch information, review their class schedules, and leave with an understanding of school rules and expectations. Staff members will be available to answer questions and check-out chrome books to students. We will have a number of student leaders on hand to share with rising 9th graders about school traditions, how to get involved, and how to be a successful student. Space is limited, please only attend your assigned session.

School Supplies
On the first day of class, teachers may give you another separate list of items that are required for their class.

General – Bring to ALL core classes each day
Pencil
Pen
Three-ring notebook or a spiral notebook with dividers
Loose leaf paper or composition notebook
Highlighter
Gym Class – Physical Education (Students are required to dress out each day)
Athletic shoes (non-marking soles)
Athletic wear (shorts, sweats, t-shirt)
Technology: Charged Chromebook, Chromebook charger, Wired earbuds or headphones (recommended)
Dress Code and Cell Phone Procedures
Dress Code:
Clothing worn to reveal underwear or cleavage, pants worn below waist level, or clothing that is excessively baggy or tight is NOT permissible.
Distractive clothing, scanty clothing, and transparent or see-through mesh garments clothing are NOT permissible.
Clothing must cover skin from your chest to your mid-thigh with non-see-through fabric.
Clothing that reveals undergarments or your midriff is NOT permissible.
Gang-related jewelry, dress, bandanas, insignias, or any other gang-related attire will not be tolerated.
Clothing with vulgar language, obscenities, or clothing advertising drugs or alcoholic beverages is not permissible.
Sunglasses are not to be worn inside school buildings.
Shoes or sandals are to be worn at all times during the school day.
Students are not allowed to bring or wear blankets
No halter tops or tube tops

Consequences: The student will be allowed to remedy the violation by changing into the appropriate clothes they have at school. If the student does not have clothes to change into, they will be referred to the office to call home for a change of clothes. Students who are repeatedly out of compliance with the dress code will be referred to the administration.

Cell Phone and Headphone Procedures:

All North Henderson High classrooms are cell-phone-free zones. Cell phones are only permitted during class changes and lunches. During scheduled class time,Ā all mobile devices are required to be placed by the student in a special pouch located at the front of each classroom or be turned off and secured in their backpack.
Wireless headphones (AirPods, Beats, etc) are NOT permitted during scheduled class time.

Consequences: Any non-compliance will be considered a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and will be met by administrative action that could include in-school suspension or a short-term out-of-school suspension from 1-10 school days. Mobile devices and headphones are allowed in the commons, cafeteria, hallways, and transportation lots before the first bell, during transition times, and lunch.

22-23 Parking Permit Application
Parking Permit Application available atĀ  North Henderson High School 2022-2023Ā  Permits are $40.00 per year (Non-Refundable) – All student drivers must obtain a permit to park on campus.

Parking and Safety:
Permits are $40.00 per year (Non-Refundable) – All student drivers must obtain a permit to park on campus. Students who drive/park on campus without having a valid NC driver’s license or NHHS parking permit will be disciplined for violating the student code of conduct.
Driving on campus is not required to attend school. Should a violation of the student code of conduct occur involving a student’s vehicle, the privilege of driving and parking on campus may be revoked without the school refunding the parking fee.
Student drivers who leave campus during the school day without properly signing out through the office will face disciplinary action and will have their campus parking/driving privileges revoked.
Student drivers who speed or operate their vehicles in an unsafe manner will have their driving/parking privileges revoked. Any disruption to the school zone involving a student’s vehicle may result in disciplinary action.
During the school day, student drivers are only allowed to park their vehicles in the designated student parking lot. The parking permit must be displayed in the vehicle at all times while parking on campus. Students who tamper, damage or trade parking tags will have their campus parking/driving privileges revoked and face disciplinary action.
Starting on August 3rd, 2022, parking permits may be purchased in the front office between the hours of 8:00 and 3:00. Amount is payable with cash, check (made out to North Henderson High School), or online payment. Partial applications will not be processed. Please review the entire application.
