Message from Mr. Moore – Week of 9/28-10/2/2020

Rugby words from the principal
Due to the age of this article, the information below could be outdated or incorrect.

We are so incredibly excited that our students get to return to school tomorrow. As you prepare for your first days back in person, we have several items to cover to help us all make the day as smooth and productive as possible.

1. Student Drop Off:

Due to our inability to allow large numbers to congregate (in the gym or cafeteria), students will report immediately to their RT upon arriving at school in the morning. Because of this, we must wait until 7:15-7:20 to open the doors for students. It is vital that you not drop your student prior to the screening procedures being completed. If your student is arriving by car, please do the following:

*Pull as far forward as you can before stopping
*Wait for an RMS employee to take your student’s temperature while still in the car.
*Once the temperature is taken and acceptable, the student will exit the car and walk to
the main door of the school (where he or she will be offered breakfast).
*Student will immediately report to his/her RT where he/she can eat breakfast and wait
for the school day to begin.

2. Student Pick-Up:

A Rugby staff member will meet you in the parking lot to find out which student you are picking up. Once you have provided that information, the staff member will call for the student, and you will need to pull as far forward as possible before stopping. The student will come to meet you at your car.

3. Bus Riders:

Students riding the bus should be there 10-15 minutes prior to the projected pick up time. We have worked hard to accurately predict the timing of the route, but there are many variables, and the bus might be early or late as we run the routes the first few times. Please be patient and prepared with your face covering in order to board the bus.

Free Food!!

We are happy to share that all students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch at no charge until the end of December, 2020. Upon entering the building on students’ face-to-face day, they will be offered breakfast. They will also have the option to order a free lunch each day that they are present. While this is the situation for all students currently, it expires at the end of December. To be prepared for that eventuality, please complete the meal benefits application form to be sure you are covered when the calendar turns to 2021. Each morning that your student is scheduled to be physically present at school, your student will receive an email through which he/she can order a lunch for the day and a take home lunch for his/her upcoming virtual day. Also, remember that Grab and Go lunches are available each weekday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm in the RMS bus circle.

For Students and Families (Families, please share with your students)-

As you all know, life within the school is going to be different in order to do all we can to make the return to school safe and successful for everyone. We ask that students work together with the adults to learn the new procedures and habits that will allow us to continue with face to face instruction. It is so very important that students be able to come to school safely, and in order to do that, we will all need to work together. Let’s all do our part, and that begins with 1) Wearing a Face Covering 2) Washing and Sanitizing hands frequently and thoroughly and 3) Waiting six feet away from other people.

To symbolize our unity in this endeavor, the Rugby staff asks that on Monday, students wear Rugby Blue and our Tuesday, students wear Raider Red. Again, we are all in this together, so let’s celebrate our unity and spirit through our spirit wear this week!
