Greetings Raider families!

We are off and running with our reinvented remote learning, and we are so appreciative of the excitement and engagement of our students and families.  A huge majority of our students have been present and engaged with our virtual classrooms!  We all want to thank you for the patience and grace you have extended as we learn this entirely new way of teaching.

We encourage any of you to come through between 11:30-1:30 to pick up a grab and go meal every weekday.  These meals include a lunch and a breakfast and until August 31, are free of charge.  We encourage you to apply for meal benefits by picking up a paper application at school or by completing the online application.  Please work to complete this prior to August 31.

We also want to make you all aware of free wi-fi at different spots in our community.  Generally, HCPS school parking lots have school wi-fi coverage, and additionally, the Town of Mills River has recently installed high speed wi-fi that is available at the picnic shed, parking lots and surrounding areas.

If you find yourself in need of technical support during Learn from Home, please contact LearnFromHome@hcpsnc.org or call our new Tech Support Help Desk at 828-435-3480.

Procedures for bringing students to school for face to face teacher meetings:

  • Parents walk student in, and student temperature is taken.
  • Parents and Students must wear face covering to enter the building.
  • Parents sign student in and wait outside of the building while the student meets with teacher.

As we move forward, we strongly encourage families to maintain consistent communication with teachers and school staff as needed.  We will rely on your feedback to know when we need to make adjustments, and we want to get this right and to help all of our students grow and thrive.  If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact the school by phone (828-891-6566) or contact your teachers directly.

We appreciate you and cherish the chance to work with your children!  We hope you have a great week!
