Marlow Monday Message, May 9, 2022

Henderson County Public Schools News

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, May 9th, 2022. We had such a great week last week celebrating our amazing teachers and staff! Thank you students, parents, and PTO Board members for all of your efforts, time, acts of gratitude, flowers, cards, gifts, and everything in between, showing your love and appreciation for the Marlow faculty and staff. As much appreciation as you showed last week, know that we appreciate you!

Once again, with the End-of-Year assessments upon us, student attendance becomes very important, every day. With the exception of illnesses, please make every effort to have your child in school each day so that we can stay on schedule with our assessments, and no make-ups or alternate schedules are needed. Thank you, in advance, for your help with this.

Here is this week’s Marlow Monday Message:

  • A message from our Marlow PTO President, Dawn Steed: “The Marlow PTO is holding an open meeting on Friday, May 13, at 8:15am in the cafeteria. The PTO has worked hard all year to raise money and support for our school. Come hear about all that they’ve accomplished and what may be planned for next year. There are currently 5 open offices on the Board for the 22-23 School Year. If you want to learn more about what the PTO has done and want to join them in supporting our school next year plan to attend this meeting or contact our president, Dawn Steed, at”
  • The Outrageously Awesome Marlow Field Days are happening this week! Mark these dates on your calendar:
    • Tuesday, May 10th – Grades 3-5 and Ms. Burnette’s Class
    • Wednesday, May 11th – Grades KI – 2 and Ms. Pace’s Class.
    • May 12th and May 13th are tentative rain dates, respectively.
    • The weather looks really good for these days, and we want to say thank you to Mr. Bryan Vaughn, our PE Teacher, for organizing these two awesome days for our students. We also appreciate our Field Day volunteers, for without them, we would not be able to have such a successful event. Our kids are excited about it, and so are we! Come out and enjoy!
  • Once again this summer, GMES will be offering a Summer Learning (SL) opportunity here at Glenn Marlow. If your child (K-5) is eligible to attend this SL opportunity, you should have received an invitation from the school in your child’s folder. If not already, please respond to the invitation as soon as possible so we can plan and prepare to provide an impactful summer school experience! A few notes about the Summer Learning:
    • Summer Learning will run from June 20th – July 27th, Monday – Thursday, 8 am – 3 pm. There will be no summer school the week of July 4th- 8th.
    • Breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge to students attending Summer Learning.
    • Bus transportation will be available for Summer Learning students if needed.
    • As more information becomes available and student invitations are sent out, we will provide more detailed information to those attending. Stay tuned!
  • For our final service project of the year, Glenn Marlow Elementary is once again teaming up with Interfaith Assistance Ministries in Hendersonville to host a Non-Perishable Food Drive! The winning grade level will be awarded a snow cone party from our awesome Marlow PTO! Please, if possible, donate the following by grade level:
    • Kindergarten: Fruit cups
    • 1st Grade: Macaroni and cheese
    • 2nd Grade: Spaghetti-os
    • 3rd Grade: Peanut butter crackers
    • 4th Grade: Soup
    • 5th Grade: Cereal
  • Once again, we know that with spring, the cool mornings and warm afternoons leads to lost sweatshirts, coats, hats, jackets, and other items of clothing, which means only one thing…Lost and Found! Even after a reset in January, our Lost and Found is getting bigger and bigger every week!! Please help us by reminding your child to check through the Lost and Found if there is something that may have been left behind. Parents, if you are in the building for whatever reason (maybe like for Field Day(s)), you can check yourselves! Thank you for your help with this.

Now down to four weeks remaining of school, please see this calendar of events from now till the end of the year to be sure that you don’t miss out. It will be updated weekly as more details and events finalized:
