Marlow Monday Message, January 17th, 2022

Henderson County Public Schools News

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, January 17th, 2022. We hope everyone has enjoyed the snow, stayed warm, safe, and had fun! I also hope this break from school has given everyone a chance to get healthy and ready to come back to school. (which we hope will be Wednesday…)

Here is this week’s Marlow Monday Message:

  • Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18th, marks the end of the second quarter for students. Q2 report cards will be made available on Tuesday, January 25th through the Parent Portal.
  • As stated in their December Newsletter, our amazing PTO is committed to providing additional playground equipment for the 3-5 playground, which was lost during its relocation back in 2020. Beginning today, they are kicking off the 2022 Playground Pledge Drive, and the goal is to raise enough funds to provide outdoor play structures that will keep them active and engaged outside the classroom walls.
    • Although any amount is appreciated, check out the leveled tiers of giving that you can be a part of:
      • BUCKAROO LEVEL $0-$100
      • WHITE LEVEL $101-$299
      • BLUE LEVEL $300-$499
      • MUSTANG LEVEL $500-$999
      • WINNER’S CIRCLE $1000+: Winner’s Circle Donors will be displayed on a plaque on-site.
    • All donations are accepted online, but you can send them in via sealed envelope marked “Playground Pledge Drive” as well. We are grateful for our Marlow community, and how we come together to support our wonderful school, students, and staff. Donate today, and be a part of the first annual Playground Pledge Drive. It ends February 4th!
    • If you have any questions, please contact our PTO President, Dawn Steed, here at school, or via email at glennmarlowpto@gmail.com.
  • As we look ahead to the rest of the week and what that looks like for school, remember that if a Remote Learning Day is called for students, they should be working on their student “Choice Boards” that was distributed to all students back at the end of October. If you are unable to locate that for your child and need a new one, please contact your child’s teacher. If you have any additional questions about this day or any other day that may be called for inclement weather, please contact the school.
  • Glenn Marlow Elementary now has an Instagram account! Follow us @glennmarlowmustangs to see cool stuff happening in and around school, read about student and staff shout-outs, and get informed with HCPS district messaging. Follow us on Instagram today! (Disclaimer: We are aware of another @marlowmustangs account on Instagram, however, that account is dorment and not affiliated with the school system. Do not follow that one…)
  • And last but not least, the amazing Mr. Phil, our Marlow bus driver of Bus 45, was recently featured in an HCPS Bus Driver Recruitment video. It is something special to watch. It is on the HCPS website, as well as the HCPS YouTube channel, linked here. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, take a look. I have never been prouder to be a Marlow Mustang… Thank you, Mr. Phil, for your dedication and service to the children of GMES. #Thebestofthebest

Here are some upcoming school-wide dates and events for the month of January and into February. Please take note:

  • Tuesday, January 25th: Q2 Reports Cards made available via Parent Portal
  • Friday, February 18th: Noon Dismissal for Students –“Cozy Day” for students (Wear your PJ’s to school!)

Thank you for all that you do. Have a great night. #MarlowTogether
