Marlow Monday Message, November 15th, 2021

Henderson County Public Schools News

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, November 15, 2021. I certainly hope all of Buckaroos enjoyed the 4-day weekend! A beautiful one at that, the cold temperatures have certainly settled in, especially in the mornings, and is forecasted all week long. Parents – please be sure your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the cold mornings, and as always, put their names in their jackets in case they “misplace” them. Always at this time of year, our Lost and Found area grows by leaps and bounds, and we are encouraging students to check it on a weekly basis.

We had a great day at GMES today, and it is shaping up to be an awesome week! After today, 6 school days remaining until the Thanksgiving Break, so let’s make it count! Work hard, be great, and great things will happen!

Here is this week’s Marlow Monday Message:

  • We have had a great response so far to our Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Food Drive, helping our Marlow families during the holiday season. Keep up the great work! For Grade Level specific item information, please see the flyer attached at the bottom of this email. The Turkey Trot Drive runs through this Friday, November 19th. If you have other ideas for outreach at our school, or you would like to continue helping BackPack Bunch, please contact school counselor, Rachel Malmgren at 654-3225. Thank you so much!
  • This week, the Fall Scholastic Book Fair “Under the Sea” will be in the Media Center. The Book Fair is open from 7:45 – 3:30 each day, and students will be visiting the Book Fair during their Media Center Specials this week. Please be sure you know what day that is!
  • We hope you join us tomorrow night for Family Night, from 5pm – 7pm. Did you know that the students of Glenn Marlow have a book dedicated to them? Oval Man, written by Marlow’s own retired Art and Drama teacher, Mary Davis Gage, was inspired in part by our Buckaroos. Ms. Davis Gage will be at the Book Fair to sign books along with her daughter Anya on Tuesday evening for Family Night. Anya is a Marlow grad and a senior at WHHS. Bring your copy, if you have one already, or purchase Oval Man on Amazon or at Splurge Gift Shop on Main Street, Hendersonville. Copies of the book will also be available for purchase that night for $10.
  • Also happening on Tuesday, November 16th is Make-up Picture Day. Lifetouch will be back to take pictures for students who may have been absent the first go round, or any “New to Marlow” students since the original Picture Day date, October 6th.
  • This Friday, November 19th, is Marlow “Sports Fan” Spirit Day! Students, staff, (and parents) are encouraged to dress up supporting their favorite team or favorite sport, college of pro, and show off that Marlow spirit! It is going to be an awesome day!
  • Parents – Please note that there will be no Flu Clinic at Marlow this year. Flu shots for all ages are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Blue Ridge Mall in the old JC Penny’s store. For more information, please visit the Henderson County Flu website.
  • Mark your calendars! The Marlow PTO is once again teaming up with Spirit Papa John’s in Mills River to host not one, but two, GMES Spirit Nights! On November 30 and December 1, from open till close, a portion of all carryout only pizza sales associated with GMES will go right back to our PTO. Make plans for a pizza dinner today!
  • Don’t forget! The 2021 – 2022 Marlow Yearbooks are now on sale! Yearbooks start at $20, with add-ons available for additional charges. Order now, because the price will go up after January 1st. If you have any questions about yearbooks and yearbook ordering, please contact our Yearbook Coordinator, Monica Outman, here at the school.
