Marlow Monday Messages, October 4th, 2021

Henderson County Public Schools News

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, October 4, 2021. I hope all of you enjoyed another awesome Fall weekend in Western NC! The leaves are beginning to change, the weather is getting cooler, and the stores are gearing up for the holiday seasons (Christmas already?). Today marked the 30th day of school… hard to believe, for sure! Keep up the great work, students! You are working hard, and getting better each day!

Here is this week’s Marlow Monday Message:

  • This week’s Shout-Out goes once again to our custodians! Today was National Custodian Appreciation Day, and our custodians, Mr. Eddie, Ms. Tammy, Mr. Kendrix, and Mr. Shaun were treated to cards, sweet treats, lunch, and lots of “thank you’s” from our students and staff. We do appreciate the work they put in each and every day, making our building look great, inside and out! Thank you!
  • Fall Picture Day is this Wednesday, October 6th. Lifetouch will be here for fall pictures. Order forms are being sent home this week, so please take advantage of this opportunity to order your pictures, as a portion of all picture sales goes right back to Glenn Marlow Elementary School. Picture order forms must be paid in full on the Picture Day or, orders can be made online at the Lifetouch website.
  • This Friday night is “Elementary Night” at the WHHS Football game vs. Pisgah. All Marlow students will get in to the game for free, and will be recognized beforehand on the track at 7 pm. Game time is 7:30 pm. Come early to get recognized and help build the tunnel for the Falcons to run out!
    • Friday is also Spirit Day at GMES! Students are encouraged to wear their Marlow spirit gear to school and to the game on Friday! We will also have WHHS football players and cheerleaders out Friday morning greeting students in the morning. We hope to have a big Marlow crowd out at the game!
  • Do you anticipate having difficulty providing Christmas gifts for your children this year? If so, Henderson County Public Schools is partnering with the Storehouse “Blessings in Boxes” Christmas assistance program. Flyers were sent home with students at the end of September, but you can still sign up if need be. If you have any questions about this awesome organization, or need assistance, please contact our school counselor, Rachel Malmgren, for more information.
  • Save the date of Thursday, October 21st for our Annual Pumpkin Lighting Event, from 5:30 – 8 pm. Pumpkin Lighting is an annual tradition at Marlow, and a great event for our entire community. Filled with food, games, an inflatable slide, a hay ride, smore’s by the fire, raffle baskets, and much more, make plans now to attend! We hope to see you all there! More information on the raffle baskets will be coming soon!
  • Attention students (and parents)– please do not forget to bring your water bottle with you each day to school. We do have water bottle fillers on each hallway, and since the water fountains are shut down, each student needs to have their water bottle with them each day. For those that need it, we do have spare water bottles and bottled water in the front office, but encourage all students to have their own each day.
  • As well, please be sure to bring a mask with you to school each day. Again, we have extras in the front office, if need be, but encourage students to have their own, and if possible, a few extra in their backpacks if one breaks. Thank you!

Stay safe and healthy everyone. Thank you, and have a good evening. JHart
