Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart, principal of Glenn Marlow Elementary School with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, August 9th.
With two weeks remaining before the start of school, things are starting to get busy around here. From putting the finish touches on the floors, last minute painting, sprucing up the campus grounds, and enrolling new students, the work has definitely started getting ready for the new year. Regardless of the circumstances presented in front of us, we are looking forward to a great year and ensuring that each child will achieve success! #MarlowStrong
- I want to send a big Marlow Shout-Out to the Marlow Dads who came out for the workday on Saturday. We had a great crowd and got a lot accomplished! Our campus looks great, so thank you all! Attention Marlow Dads – if you couldn’t be there this past Saturday and are not on our email list but want to be included this year, please send me an email to email@example.com and let me know, and we will be sure to include you in upcoming events that we do throughout the year. Always a great time!
- This year, “Meet the Teacher” will be on Thursday, Aug. 19th. The day will start with a “Welcome to Kindergarten Orientation,” beginning at 1 pm, for all of our kindergarten students and families. For all other grades, first through fifth, Meet the Teacher will be later that evening from 4 pm – 6 pm. There, you will be able to see your child’s classroom, get transportation and PSAM/PM information, as well as some extra-curricular opportunities for students here at Marlow. It should be a great night!
- In order to create a little space between all of Buckaroos and families and be mindful of the health and safety of our community, we are staggering the entry for first through fifth graders. Students with last names beginning A – K can come to Meet the Teacher between 4 pm – 5 pm, and students with last names L – Z come between 5 pm – 6 pm. Our school staff will be working hard all week to get the building and their classrooms ready, so I ask that you protect their time on Thursday. You may arrive as early as like, but we will not open doors until 4:00. Please remember that face masks will be required on this evening, as the HCPS Board of Education’s decision to make face masks optional for all students, staff, and visitors does not take effect until Monday, August 23rd. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Don’t forget, class supply list can be found on our school website. As in the past, it is allowed and encouraged that students bring their supplies to “Meet the Teacher” to be put away in the classroom so that students do not have such a big load on the first day of school.
As always, if you have any questions, please do hesitate to contact the school at 828-654-3225.
Thank you, and have a good evening. JHart
