Don’t Get Caught Without a Backup!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Whether getting a new PC, having problem with a current machine, or just in the event of disaster, it is extremely important to back up your files.\u00a0 Files stored on My Documents, on the desktop, or in other local areas on the computer’s hard drive are NOT automatically backed up for end users.\u00a0The network drives provide you with space which is automatically backed up for you, however, it is always a good idea to back these up, as well.\u00a0 Each summer the Technology Department reimages computers in order to support and maintain the health of your machine.\u00a0 So we recommend that you develop good habits of backing up your files so you don’t get caught without a backup!\u00a0 Here are some options for you:<\/p>\n

Google Drive (Recommended)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Using Google Drive is the BEST option for backing up your files. \u00a0The worries of space limitation are gone and you can access your files from ANYWHERE with an internet connection. \u00a0No need to worry about how you will get to your M drive or T drive. \u00a0Just login to Google and you’ll have everything you need. External Drive<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Using a thumb drive or other type of external hard drive is an excellent option, not only for ease of completing backups, but also for portability of files.\u00a0 Just ensure that your drive is large enough to store your files so that you have enough space to save your documents. CD or\u00a0DVD\u00a0Drive<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Burning your files to CD or DVD is another way to ensure a proper backup of files.\u00a0 Use software like CD Burner XP, or other burning software found on your computer, to copy files to this media.<\/p>\n

Network Drive<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Using your M Drive is another way to ensure your files are in a safe location.\u00a0 The network storage space in Active Directory (AD)\u00a0is a great method of storing files\u00a0and\u00a0provides a way for you to access\u00a0these files from any computer on the AD\u00a0network.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n
