{"id":6883,"date":"2020-08-11T11:24:22","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T15:24:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hendersoncountypublicschoolsnc.org\/hcec\/?page_id=6883"},"modified":"2024-01-24T15:56:34","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T20:56:34","slug":"expectations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hendersoncountypublicschoolsnc.org\/hcec\/expectations\/","title":{"rendered":"Expectations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Expectations<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>The 10 Most Important Things<br \/>\nBe kind and treat everyone with respect.<\/li>\n<li>Be positive.<\/li>\n<li>Be here and be on time.<\/li>\n<li>Build relationships that matter.<\/li>\n<li>Be the example.<\/li>\n<li>Be proactive.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate.<\/li>\n<li>Take pride in your school.<\/li>\n<li>Make every day, every hour, every minute count.<\/li>\n<li>Support each other because everyone gets overwhelmed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Appropriate Dress Expectations<\/h2>\n<p>Simple guidelines for school-appropriate apparel for all students at all times:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School appropriate tops include the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Necklines should cover the upper chest region appropriately.<\/li>\n<li>Sleeves must be a playing card\u2019s width and no top should have an arm opening larger than the approximate size of the arm.<\/li>\n<li>No see-through, mesh, bare midriff, muscle shirts, tank tops, spaghetti straps or halter-tops.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>School appropriate bottoms include the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Hemline that is no shorter than the length of two playing cards from the knee.<\/li>\n<li>Form fitting bottoms (bike shorts, leggings, yoga pants, etc.) should be accompanied by a garment that covers the buttocks.<\/li>\n<li>Any holes or shredding must adhere to the above hemline guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>School appropriate tops and bottoms must be worn at all times by all students, including in gym class and after school practices.<\/li>\n<li>Clothing and accessories must be free of offensive or suggestive words or graphics and contain no references to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or other illegal substances or activities.<\/li>\n<li>Shoes must be worn at all times. No slippers or cleats may be worn.<\/li>\n<li>No undergarments should be visible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Consequences:<\/h3>\n<p>Students whose clothing fails to meet the Appropriate Dress Expectations will have the opportunity to remedy the violation. If unable, students will report to the office where a phone call home will be made. Afterwards, the students will report to Processing until a parent\/legal guardian brings a change of clothes and the violation will be documented.<\/p>\n<h2>Cell Phone Expectations<\/h2>\n<p>Simple guidelines for use of cell phones at school:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All classrooms are cell phone-free zones for the entire class time.\n<ul>\n<li>Students should place cell phones in a designated area in the classroom or must keep cell phones put away in their backpack.<\/li>\n<li>Cell phones must be turned off or on silent mode for the duration of class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Students may only use their phones during class change and at lunch.\n<ul>\n<li>This includes the use of smart watches or other Bluetooth devices. Smart watches may be worn, but may not be used as a communication device during class time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Consequences:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>First offense: Discipline referral to administration that may result in ISS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Further offenses will result in greater consequences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Expectations The 10 Most Important Things Be kind and treat everyone with respect.
