An HCEC shuttle bus will bring students from each district high school to HCEC.\u00a0 Morning buses arrive in time for classes to begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Please use this form for any bus transportation requests <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1NedvDFYK68NX6UbL5K-44ssIe7qm4AsR\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=117934097609948531494&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">BUS<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Car Riders<\/h2>\n<p>Parents\/guardians may choose to drive students to campus. Morning supervision is provided from 7:45-8:05 AM. School begins promptly at 8:05 AM and is dismissed at 2:38 PM.\u00a0 Afternoon supervision for car riders is available until 2:45 PM.<\/p>\n<p>If student transportation is different from normal arrangements, parents are responsible for providing a note that explains the change. This information will be filed in the main office for future reference for attendance purposes.<\/p>\n<h2>Drivers<\/h2>\n<p>Early College students participate in Driver\u2019s Education at their base high schools. Please contact your base high school for further information. You may also visit <a href=\"https:\/\/wresa.org\/drivers-education-registration\/\">Online Driver\u2019s Education Course<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtnpro.com\/\">Mountain Professionals Driving School<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Online Driver\u2019s Education<\/strong><br \/>\nThe online driver\u2019s education course\u00a0is open to students in the WRESA service area, including the following counties:\u00a0Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.<\/p>\n<p>Students must be in grades 9-12 and 14.5 years of age before enrolling in this course.\u00a0Once a student has registered for a class, they will receive an email within 2-5 business days containing instructions on how to enroll in the classroom portion. An\u00a0instructor will monitor progress and be available to assist with questions.<\/p>\n<p>Cost: $60\u00a0(payments made through PayPal\/credit card at time of registration).<br \/>\nNote: the registration\u00a0fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, so please be sure the\u00a0student\u00a0can complete the requirements during the times for each session<\/p>\n<p>The course will cover the state and national standards required for drivers\u2019 education and will be self-paced, but must be completed within the 4-week window. Successful completion of the course requirements will result in the student receiving the paperwork necessary for the driving portion of drivers\u2019 education. This paperwork can be presented to the local school contact or appropriate private contact.<\/p>\n<p>Classroom Portion\u00a0Requirements:<br \/>\nStudents\u00a0will receive an\u00a0email\u00a0with the information to enroll in the classroom portion. Orientation should take about 20 minutes to complete, and must be done during the 2-day window<br \/>\nAll sections and quizzes must be completed for Units during the designated time<br \/>\nRoad Signs\u00a0Test\u00a0and\u00a0Final Exam\u00a0must be completed on one of the designated dates during the designated time<br \/>\nStudents\u00a0must make an overall grade of \u201c60\u201d to receive credit for the\u00a0course<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wresa.org\/drivers-education-registration\/\">Register for Driver&#8217;s Ed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Driving to school is a privilege, not a right, and can be suspended at any time. Students who drive to school are not allowed to take other students off or around campus without the written permission of both the driver\u2019s parents\/guardian and the other student\u2019s parents\/guardian and the principal\/designee permission. Student drivers are not allowed to leave campus for any reason during the school day between 8:05 AM and 2:38 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Any student with a valid driver\u2019s license is required to inform HCEC before parking on campus. HCEC will provide information on how to obtain the required parking decal from BRCC at that time. The student will then bring the decal to the Study Group Facilitator to record the information and then the student must place the decal on his\/her vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Parking is provided in the parking lot behind the Innovative High Schools building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Driver&#8217;s Education and Transportation Bus Riders Students can ride their district school bus from their home to their district school.
