In an educational setting, occupational therapy uses activity and adapted environments, both human and physical, to facilitate the development and improvement of the student&#8217;s skills and independent function, and to decrease the effects of the handicapping condition on the student&#8217;s ability to participate in the educational process.<\/p>\n<p>Areas of intervention may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>activities of daily living<\/li>\n<li>sensory-motor skills<\/li>\n<li>musculoskeletal development<\/li>\n<li>neuromotor development<\/li>\n<li>gross motor coordination<\/li>\n<li>postural control and balance<\/li>\n<li>praxis\/motor planning skills<\/li>\n<li>oral motor skills<\/li>\n<li>functional mobility skills<\/li>\n<li>bilateral integration<\/li>\n<li>fine motor coordination<\/li>\n<li>cognitive integration skills<\/li>\n<li>psychosocial skills<\/li>\n<li>visual perceptual development<\/li>\n<li>visual motor integration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Occupational Therapy?
