Our high school communities and district leaders are excited to be able to plan graduations in-person this year!
High school graduations are scheduled at each high school for Friday, May 28, as in-person events, which we communicated to our families in the April 1 edition of “R2L Weekly.”
As in years past, the graduation commencement ceremonies at North Henderson High, East Henderson High, and West Henderson High will take place in the schools’ athletic stadiums at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. respectively. The rain date for these three outdoor graduations is Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m.
Given the ongoing construction at Hendersonville High, the school’s 6 p.m. graduation ceremony will take place indoors in the Jim Pardue Gymnasium. Both the Henderson County Career Academy and Henderson County Early College will hold their graduation commencements at the Innovative High Schools’ campus, at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
Traditionally, most of our high school graduation exercises take place outside in the school athletic stadiums, which helped district leaders in planning these ticketed, in-person celebrations while adhering to social distancing guidelines still in effect. Given the capacities of the outdoor stadiums and the select indoor venues, we were confident schools would be able to safely host graduates and their invited family members as we have in years past, albeit with additional spacing.
Like all of our end-of-year celebrations this year, the May 28 graduations will follow any existing executive orders from the Governor in effect, and NCDHHS guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our school communities.
