Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, March 2nd. And just like that, March has arrived! We are looking forward to another great week! A big Marlow “Shout-Out” to Ms. Stephanie Patton, our STEM Coordinator, and her STEM Leadership Team, for another outstanding Marlow Family STEM Night last week. It was a great event, and we thank everyone who was here to enjoy it. Here is this week’s news and upcoming events:

  • As a reminder, tomorrow, March 3rd, is now a full student day to make up lost instructional time from the inclement weather a few weeks ago.
  • This week, March 2nd – 6th, is National Read Across America Week. To celebrate the week, Glenn Marlow Elementary will be having ‘Spirit Week’. Students and staff showed great spirit today with their sports apparel and hats. Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:
    • Tuesday (3/3) – GL Color Day – wear the designated color of your grade level
      • Kindergarten – Yellow
      • First Grade – Orange
      • Second Grade – Red
      • Third Grade – Green
      • Fourth Grade – Purple
      • Fifth Grade – Blue
    • Wednesday (3/4) – Wacky Wednesday / Mismatch Day
    • Thursday (3/5) – Favorite Book Character Day
    • Friday (3/6) – Marlow Spirit / Blue and White Day
    • We hope to see everyone showing their school spirit!!
  • Also this week is the Marlow Spring Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair is open every day from 7:45 am – 4 pm. Students will be visiting the Book Fair during their Media Center/Library Specials time. Join us for Family Night@ the Book Fair, Monday, March 9th, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!
  • And also this week, Severe Weather Preparedness Week, designated by the National Weather Service and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. As part of the week, GMES will be participating in a state-wide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 4th, at 9:30 am. As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Attention Marlow K-Kids and K-Kids parents – There will be no K-Kids meeting this week. Marlow K-Kids will meet next Thursday, March 12th and again on Thursday, March 26th.
  • “Marlow’s Got Talent”, the one and only talent show for Marlow students, is quickly approaching. If interested, please make sure that your child returns the flyer already sent home to Ms. Karen Whiting (4th Grade Teacher) as soon as possible. The tryout date is set for Tuesday, March 10th, and the Talent Show is scheduled for Friday, March 27th. Please contact Ms. Whiting if you any questions, or for further information.
  • A message from Sarah Holden, our PTO President: Marlow Mustang family, we need you! The second annual “Marlow Mustang Derby” will be coming this spring and we want YOU to be involved! 100% of the funds raised from our Derby Fun Run will go right back to our school! If you would like to be involved, please feel free to email Sarah Holden, PTO President, at royceandsarah@yahoo.com or Katie Myers, Fun Run Coordinator at kmyers0610@gmail.com. Thank you for all you do and your involvement in our amazing school!!

  • March 20 – Noon Dismissal for students
  • March 24 – Spring Picture Day
  • March 27 – “Marlow’s Got Talent” Show – 6 pm
