Marlow Monday Message, January 15th, 2018
Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday Message on this Monday, January 15th. In this week Marlow Moments of the Week, our Kindergarteners learned about the 5 senses, 4th graders researched significant quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King, and our 5th grade Science student learned about forces in motion by rolling toy cars down an incline slope. We persevered through the school delays and had a great week! Now, here is this week’s news and upcoming events.
– Once again, as we have entered into the cold and flu season of the 2017-2018 school year, please make sure that you and your child are taking the proper steps necessary to stay healthy during this time of year. Routinely washing your hands with soap and water, covering your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, keeping your distance from others who may be sick, and wiping down and disinfecting surfaces that may contain germs, are just a few preventative steps you can take to ensure your children and your household remain as healthy as possible. We have had several confirmed cases of the flu already here at school, so if your child is sick, we ask that you keep him/her at home until they have been fever free and vomit free for 24 hours. Thank you, in advance, for being proactive in these actions that help control the spread of germs and illnesses in our school
– Glenn Marlow Elementary School is collecting used children’s books for the Smart Start book sale on Saturday, February 24th. Proceeds from this sale are used to purchase new age-appropriate books, which are mailed to preschool children in Henderson County each month through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Please deposit your donated books in the Smart Start collection boxes located at the front entrance and plan to attend the sale on February 24th at Grace Lutheran Church. Thank you for helping our young children instill a love of reading!
– STEM T-shirts are now on sale. Orders are due on or before January 26th, in time to have them for our STEM Night scheduled for Thursday, February 8th. Order online through the web link provided in this email, or contact Ms. Stephanie Patton, our STEM Coordinator, if you would like an order form sent home. All proceeds from the STEM T-shirt sale goes back to our STEM Club.
– Don’t forget that the Marlow Kiwanis Kids Club is sponsoring a canned soup drive to benefit Interfaith Assistance Ministries from now until January 18th. They are asking for all students to bring in donations of canned soup, and place them the boxes located on each hallway. The goal for the K-Kids’s 500 cans of soup. Thank you so much for your help!
Thank you for all that you do, and have a good night.
