Marlow Monday Message, November 20th, 2017
Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday message on this Monday, November 20th. This week, in our “Marlow Moments of the Week’, we want to highlight what a great week we had at the Wild West Book Fair. Thank you to all who came out and participated in the Book Fair, and a huge Marlow ‘thank you’ to Ms. Waxman for her work getting it all set up and organized. Collectively, the Book Fair sold over $10,500 for the week. Great job!!
We had an enormous crowd here at Marlow for Thanksgiving lunch last Thursday…. over 640 meals were served! Thank you to all of our K-2 parents who came out, and another huge Marlow ‘thank you’ to Ms. Robin Bryans, our cafeteria manager, and her crew on the amazing job they did to get it all prepared. Our third graders on the Holley/Gillespie team recently opened owl pellets in their science unit on bones, muscles and joints. It was a great experience as each child found many skulls and a variety of other bones and joints that they were able to identify, and lastly, our first graders finished the week by taking a field trip to the Flat Rock Playhouse to see ‘Pinkalicious.’ It was a great show!
Here is this week’s news and upcoming events:
– As stated earlier, we had a wonderful time at our Thanksgiving Lunch for our K-2/Alexander parents, and as we look ahead to hosting our 3-5/Taddei parents for Christmas lunch, I do need to make one correction – The Christmas lunch originally posted for Dec. 7th was posted incorrectly. Our Christmas lunch for 3-5 and Ms. Taddei’s class parents will be on Thursday, December 14th. Please mark your calendar with the correction, and our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you.
– Wow! We are so thankful for your generosity in our Turkey Trot Food drive! We have a grand total of over 800 items collected, well above our goal! Thanks to your kindness — each family on our backpack bunch list will receive a special bag for both Thanksgiving and Holiday break. If you would like to continue donating, please do not hesitate to drop non-perishable food items off in the drop off box in the entrance of the school, or you may contact the school to inquire about other ways to help. We cannot thank you enough.
– It is hard to believe that we are already at Thanksgiving Break, and with that, an opportunity for me to express to you how thankful I am for all of our amazing students, staff, parents, and community. We are an amazing school because of the hard work and effort that you put in everyday. In these sometimes challenging times, I am able to see all the dedication and tireless work individuals put in to go above and beyond to make sure that great things happen at our school everyday. All of you make a positive difference, and for that, I am most thankful. Thank you for all that you do to help make Glenn Marlow an amazing school. Have a great night, and a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
