Marlow Monday Message, October 16th, 2017

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow Monday message on this Monday, October 16th2017.  This week, in our “Marlow Moments of the Week”, we want to recognize:

– A Marlow ‘Shout-Out’ to the Dad’s N Donuts group that came out Saturdaymorning for a workday around campus.  From cleaning out flowerbeds, weed eating and mulching, and cutting down branches for the hayride, our Dad’s did awesome work making our campus look great.   Thanks so much!  We appreciate you!

–  Ms. Alexander’s and Ms. Taddei’s class had a fantastic time at Stepp Orchard past week, and this Thursday, our 5th graders will travel to Camp Arrowhead to Outdoor Ed.  Have a great trip!!

– Our students have been waiting patiently, and the time finally arrived this past Friday morning with the Grand Opening of the Marlow School Store.  Every Friday, beginning at 7;30 at the bus entrance, the store will be open selling pencils, erasers, and other items for our students!  It was a great opening!   We hope to see you next week.

Now, here is this week’s news and announcements:

— Just a reminder about the Flu Clinic here at Glenn Marlow Elementary on Monday, October 23rd from 9 am – 12 pm.  Flu is very contagious and children can be sick with the flu for a week or more, which may cause them to miss school.  I would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to have your child vaccinated.  To access more information, go to www.HendersonCountyFlu.org , then click on School Vaccine Clinics.  Please read the Vaccine Information Statement and Notice of Privacy.  Your child will bring home a copy of the Flu Vaccine Consent Form for you to complete.  These forms must be returned to your child’s school by 4:00pm on Thursday, October 19th.  If the school nurses do not receive the completed permission forms by this deadline, your child will not receive the vaccine.  We are unable to vaccinate anyone without completed paperwork.  Insurance will be filed for Medicaid, Health Choice, BCBS-NC, MedCost and United Healthcare.   If you have any questions, contact our school nurse, Kim Ball at 828-654-3225.

— Parents, if you ordered Poppy’s Gourmet Popcorn a few weeks ago, it will be ready for pick up this Thursday afternoon from 3:30 – 6pm and Friday morning from 8am – 10 in the Theater.  Parents must come in and pick up their order.  It will not be sent home with students on the bus or in car rider line.   If you have any questions, please call the school.

— This Friday night is ‘Elementary Night’ at the West Henderson football game vs. Tuscola.  All Marlow Elementary students will get in free to the game, and be recognized prior to the game around 6:30.  Game time is now 7:00, so we hope to see all our Buckaroos at West High on Friday night @ 6:30.

Thank you for all you do.   Have a great week.    #WeAreMarlow
