Marlow “Tuesday” Message, October 3rd, 2017

Henderson County Public Schools News

Good evening Glenn Marlow parents and students, this is John Hart with your Marlow ‘Tuesday’ message on this Tuesday, October 3rd2017.  We have had a great first month of school.  In a new segment of the Marlow Monday Message called “Marlow Moments of the Week”, we want to recognize:

-Ms. Alexander and Ms. Hamill’s class for their award winning Seed Art and Tye Dye entries at the WNC Ag Fair.   They won three ‘Best in Show’ for Seed Art, Sunflower, and Tye Dye.  They also received ‘Judges Choice’, two first place, and two second place ribbons for their flowers and herbs entry.  Way to go!!!

– Our 4th graders recently completed their ‘Kindness Rocks’ project, where every 4thgrade student painted a rock with words of kindness on them.  These rocks symbolize the importance of spreading love, kindness, and positivity to those that need it! These rocks will be placed at Mills River Park and Fletcher Park to be found.

-Our Marlow K-Kids has almost 60 students involved.  A service oriented group, Ms. Clark and Ms. McCutcheon are looking forward to their next meeting this coming Thursday from 3:00 – 3:45, and planning service projects for our students throughout the community. Great job K-Kids!!

-Lastly, a shout out to our Pre-school staff, Ms. Coffel and Ms. Outman, and our community for raising funds through DonorsChoose to purchase some new playground equipment for our Pre-K playground.  It looks great!!  Stay tuned next week for more Marlow Moments of the Week.

Now, here is this week’s news and announcements:

— Please remember to have your child check the lost and found here at school if they have left clothing behind.  Lost and found is located at the gym entrance. Now is the time of year when lost and found gets filled up – cold in the mornings, warm and sunny in the afternoons.   Parents are also encouraged to come and check as well.  It is helpful that students put their names inside their clothing, so that they can be easily identified if left behind.

— As you may know, Ingles grocery stores sponsors a Tools for Schools program, donating money and supplies to schools that are registered through their website.  All you need to is register your Ingles Card through their website at www., or come in to the school and pick up an enrollment form, and we will register for you. You should have also received an enrollment form in your PTO packet that went home at the beginning of the school year.   Every time you use your Ingles card, Ingles will give back to us.  It is a great opportunity to give back to our school, and I hope we all take advantage.

— Save the date of Thursday, October 26th for our Annual Pumpkin Lighting Event, from 5 – 8 pm.  Pumpkin Lighting is a great community event here at Glenn Marlow, filled with food, games, hay rides, raffle baskets, and much more.  Make plans now to attend.  We hope to see you all there!!

Thank you for all you do to help make Glenn Marlow an Amazing school.   Have a great week.    #WeAreMarlow
