The 2017 Digital Learning Conference for Middle School Teachers

On August 22, 2017, HCPS and North Henderson High School hosted the 2nd annual Digital Learning Conference. This teacher-led conference provided instruction and resources to teachers to promote the integration of technology in their classrooms. This professional development effort is supported by the Golden LEAF Foundation and the Friday Institute and will continue throughout the year. Teachers were provided with sessions to choose from in order to customize the professional development to individual needs. Additionally, teachers were introduced to the TPACK and SAMR models as well as the concept of shifting toward blended learning. We look forward to seeing the growth of this initiative.

Beginning in October of 2015 the first Pilot Teachers and Technology Integrators attended professional development sessions at Mills River Academy. They spent each month attending sessions on a variety of topics from understanding technology integration to technology tools. This was an amazing group of collaborators, creators and problem-solvers. In May of 2016 this group graduated from being Pilot Teachers and Technology Integrators to “Empowered Educators” and we are intensely proud of their hard work and dedication to this project.
