This month’s NCWiseOwl featured tool is Britannica.  This resource provides users with the ability to research people, places and things. There are videos and articles to enrich understanding of a wide variety of topics.  Additionally there are many images, maps and multimedia resources available.

To access this resource, first go to the NCWiseOWl home page.  Then click on the General Reference button. Once on this page, you will find separate links for elementary, middle and high school Britannica School. NCWiseOwl also provides users with tutorials and guides for using Britannica.  These tutorials include resources for both educators and students.

For teachers there is a lesson plan browser and links for professional development and support. You can browse by state standards, subject and grade level. If educators create a login account to Britannica, content can be saved so that it can be more readily available for use in instruction. Joining the Britannica Community provides access to content resource packets, as well.
