All students are encouraged to participate in our athletic programs as either participants or spectators. In order to participate, the student must meet the following requirements at the beginning of the sport season:
*Passed a minimum of four out of six courses, three of which shall be academic subjects (mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies) in the previous semester.
*Be present 85 percent of the time the previous semester.
*Have a current Henderson County Athletic Physical Examination Form signed by a physician on file at Flat Rock Middle School. (Forms are available in the school office and must be completed by a physician before a student tries out, practices, or plays.)
*Cannot be 15 years old on or before October 16th.
*Students cannot exceed the four consecutive semesters of eligibility rule.
*Henderson County Public Schools provides student athletes with insurance. If the student has insurance, the Henderson County Public Schools policy is a secondary policy and will pay after the primary insurance provider has paid for medical costs. If the student athlete does not have insurance, the policy will cover no more than 80% of medical costs.
*Students may not play, practice, or attend athletic activities on any day they are in in-school suspension or suspended from school. Additional regulations concerning practices, games, and personal conduct will be available from each coach. Students who are not picked up promptly following practice or games may be restricted from participating in athletics. Students must be counted present at school in order to participate in an after school athletic activity.
