April 4, 2017 Meeting Notes

Our meeting opened up with a wonderful 4th Grade performance!  Four students sang two Cherokee songs, and then they joined up with 6 other students to play “Little Jig” and “The French Song” on recorders.  They did such a great job!  Thank you to the 4th Grade teachers and Mrs. Lachance for helping with this performance and a special thank you to Mr. Eckel for staying after and keeping an eye on the kids so the parents could attend the meeting. We had 21 in attendance.
The coupon book fundraiser prizes have been distributed.  On April 11th, the 16 students that earned a limo ride will be going to lunch.  They will be going to Pizza Hut in Brevard and then will be driven around like celebrities in the limo. This will be from 11:00 – 1:00 that day.  At 1:30, everyone will be invited to the gym to watch the pig race (pig race participants are those students that sold 4 or more books) and all students will be getting an ice cream treat whether they participated in the coupon book sales or not.
April 13th is the Easter Movie NIght for K-2. This is a 5th Grade Field Trip fundraiser.
The Chick-Fil-A biscuit sales fundraiser is postponed since CFA is closed until April 21st.
PTO will not be doing a basket raffle as previously announced.
April 28th is the next duty-free lunch day for staff.
Bliss, the company that we will be working with on additional playground pieces, will be scheduling a visit to the school to see our current set up and hopefully meet with primary teachers to see what would be best to add on to the existing equipment.
Staff Appreciation Week will be May 1st – 5th.  More details to come.
Thank you so very much for all of your continued support.
The next PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m.  Kindergarten students will be performing at the start!

From the March 7, 2017 meeting notes:

It was a great meeting Tuesday night!  The meeting started with a performance by the third graders.  17 third graders were in attendance and they sang a fun Irish song called “McNamara’s Band”.  They sang beautifully and then whipped out kazoos and even played some “air” instruments. Thank you so much to the third grade teachers and Mrs. Lachance for that wonderful performance, and a special thank you to Mrs. Martin who stayed to watch the kids while the parents participated in the PTO meeting.  We had 37 in attendance!

Register your Ingle’s Advantage Card online at http://www.ingles-markets.com/toolsforschools/ or at your local  store.  A percentage of your total purchase will be given to the school.

Clip Box Tops for Education from General Mills products. Then, send them to school with your child to add to the classroom collection boxes. General Mills will give the school 10 cents for each Box Top for general school expenses. Ten cents does not seem like much, but with all of us working together it can add up. At the end of each month, box tops will be tallied.

Target offers two great ways to help our school: Target VISA and Target Card. ~Call 1-800-316-6142 or go online to Target.com/tcoe and link your card to Etowah Elementary.
