2012 Henderson County Association of Educators $350 Continuing Education Scholarship

Chad Neuburger, a science teacher at Apple Valley Middle School, has been chosen as the inaugural recipient of the first annual 2012 Henderson County Association of Educators $350 Continuing Education Scholarship.  His application was selected from a pool of applicants to further extend his education through National Board Certification.  This grant is funded solely from local money. Henderson County Association of Educators is the local affiliate of the National Educators Association, an advocacy organization for teachers.

 

Mr. Neuburger has been teaching for 8 years.  This is his seventh year at Apple Valley Middle School.

2011 Henderson County Association of Educators $250 Grant

Sallie Free, a music teacher at Etowah Elementary, was chosen in October as the inaugural recipient of the first annual 2011 Henderson County Association of Educators $250 Grant.  Her proposal was selected from other applicants to further extend the music program at Etowah.  Her grant, Percussion in the 21st Century, will bring more musical opportunities to the 350 students at the school.  This grant is funded solely from local money. Henderson County Association of Educators is the local affiliate of the National Educators Association, an advocacy organization for teachers.

 

Before coming to HCPS, Ms. Free taught General Music, Chorus, and Band in Burke County, Caldwell County, and Polk County.  She has been teaching music for 26 years.
