NC GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students who entered ninth grade with the 2006 – 2007 school year or later are required to meet the following state exit standards.
A. Successfully complete a Graduation Project that includes a Research Paper, Portfolio, Product, and Presentation. Students should begin planning before 12th grade, work with a school advisor, identify an appropriate topic of personal interest for research, document parent/guardian approval of topic and plan for completion, develop a timeline that adheres to the requirements for each component, demonstrate proficient skills, and adhere to ethical standards concerning plagiarism and copyright infringement for all components.
B. Score proficient – Level III or above – on End-Of-Course assessments in Algebra I, Biology, Civics & Economics, English I, and U.S. History, score proficient on 10th – grade writing assessment. NOTE that EOC exams are given also in Algebra 2, Geometry, and Physical Science; all EOC scores count 1/3 of students’ final grade.
The following revised plan is effective for students who enter the ninth grade for the first time in or after 2009-2010.

• Complete all the requirements of this North Carolina Academic Scholars Program.
• Have an overall four-year un-weighted grade point average of 3.500
• Complete all requirements for a North Carolina high school diploma.
